This is a big year for fifth graders.
Because before you know it—
your little one will be walking out of elementary school
and into the great unknown of middle school.

This is the last chapter of the “little kid” years—
the final time they’ll line up for recess,
and the last year they’ll bring home school art projects.

But this year?
They’ll step into leadership roles.
They’ll deepen friendships.
They’ll start figuring out who they are
and who they want to become.

You’ll have real conversations.
You’ll bond over shared interests.
You’ll witness the shift—
from kid to tween.

This is the bridge.
The in-between.
The place where childhood lingers
just a little longer
before it lets go.

So, cheer them on.
Be present.
Take extra pictures.
Say yes to the class events.
And soak in every moment.

Because before you know it, you’ll be standing at that final clap out—wondering how elementary school went by so fast.

Last year of elementary kiddo will be ready with the help of Mrs Brown and Mr Wade.

What an AMAZING day we had yesterday celebrating our incredible Mustang staff as they gear up for the new school year! 🎉 From delicious food and fun gift bags to smiling faces all around, it was the perfect way to kick off an exciting year ahead. We are so grateful for this amazing team and all they do for our students. Mission Valley Elementary is ready to make this our best year yet! 💙🐴

Special thanks to Cicada for cooking up a delicious meal, Regina’s Chaos Kitchen for fantastic desserts, Sew Much More Embroidery and Townsquare Media for the back to school supplies. ✏️ 📚

If your child is heading into 4th grade,
It’s hard not to get emotional —because everything starts to feel a little bigger.

They’re not in the “little kid” grades anymore.
They’re the ones helping younger students,
the ones who know the school like the back of their hand,
the ones with a little more confidence in their step.

Fourth grade is when they start to really grow—
in independence, in curiosity, in responsibility.

The math gets harder.
The friendships get deeper.
The time spent with them is more fun.
And the questions they ask? Way more thoughtful.

You’ll catch glimpses of the big kid they’re becoming…
but still see the sparkle of that little one who you swear just yesterday needed your help putting on their shoes and brushing their teeth.

So cheer them on as they step into this next chapter—
because 4th grade is full of growing up,
but gosh, we can’t help but try to hold on.

Third grade changes everything.
It’s the start of the “big kid” years of elementary school.
They’re no longer the unsure kindergartener who clung to your leg or the sweet second grader who gave you a nervous “goodbye” hug the first day of school. Now they stride in—surrounded by friends, not even looking back.

Third grade is the year they grow in independence, in friendships,
in who they’re becoming.

You hear words coming out of their mouth, you wish you didn’t.
They’re moodier now, more influenced by friends than you.
Half the time they seem so grown…
and the other half, they still curl up in your lap like they’re little.

It’s a wild, beautiful ride.
And you watch with pride—
while quietly wondering how you got here so fast.

This year will be full of so much growth: They’ll become stronger readers. They’ll start solving problems without your help.
They’ll add, subtract, write sentences, and come home bursting with new things to tell you.

You’ll see their confidence bloom. You’ll watch their curiosity take off. And you'll look at them one day and wonder how they've grown so much.

And when the school year ends, you’ll be left amazed at the person they’ve become.

Because first grade?
It’s not just another grade.
It’s a season of transformation—
for them and you.

So soak it all in.
