Future engineers and surgeons stopped by the CBEC table at the Victoria Mall’s Camp Connect event today.

Join us to learn about our summer conferences. YOUth LEADership for 6th boys and girls and N.E.W. (Non-traditional Employment for Women) for 7th to 10th grade girls.

CBEC partnered with the Dow Seadrift Operations site’s Womens Inclusion Network to host 265 - 6th grade girls from 9 area middle schools for STEM Day. The girls engineered Water Dispensers, used chemistry to make bath bombs, programmed robotic balls to run a course, helped Dr. Freeze & Madam Atom with science demos, and heard from several successful about their journey in non-traditional careers.

Day 4 of YOUth LEADership Conference 2025. We practiced how to SHINE and have IMPACT making by a good first impression. Then it was time to learn how to set a proper table and practice good table manners. There was even tjme to bit the dancd floor. We were sent onward with tools and a challenge to keep growing our leadership skills. Capping off the conference was the Awards Ceremony recognizing the Citizen of the Week for each team, Apprentice of the Week, and Team Leader of the Week. Thanks to our Youth Co-Directors, Youth Team Leaders, and Apprentices. Go Get ‘Em YLC 2025 Graduates.

Day 3 at YOUth LEADership Conference was full of Life Lessons, team building, and good ole’ fun. Victoria Police Department raised awareness about safe cell phone and internet usage, watching who you hang out with, and experiencing the impairment goggles. Victoria Fire Department EMS provided training for CPR and Stop the Bleed. Hank and his 4-legged teammates 🐾🐾 demonstrated building character and solid, trusting relationships and the importance of following rules. Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent shared information on career prep. Campers took Mike Rowe’s S.W.E.A.T Pledge (Skill and Work Ethic Aren’t Taboo)

AWESOMENESS in ACTION ~ YOUth LEADership Conference crew visiting residents of Sodalis Assisted Living Facility. Helping with Craft Time, Playing Games, Singing Around the Piano, Weeding the Garden, Painting a Room, Conversations about Then and Now. Smiles abounded from kids from 12 to 93.

The off to Swim Party at Victoria Country Club… but lightening interfered. Back to base camp for team building and more fun.

YOUth LEADership Conference Victoria 2025 got off to a great start thanks to sponsor Invista Victoria and their Science Team and Emergency Responders with edu-taining activities. Keynote speaker Luis Jimenez of Zen Martial Arts / Movement Lab gave us great ideas on planning and preparing for the future and set the stage for goal setting time. The Rock Wall helped build self confidence and team comradery.
