Yes Giant African Bullfrogs bite. Yes it hurts, Yes, you bleed. ๐Ÿธ Estimated bite force: roughly 30โ€“50 newtons (N), or about 7โ€“11 pounds-force (lbf).
Large adult males can produce a particularly strong bite.
They have sharp, tooth-like structures called odontoids on the lower jaw, which can make a bite painful and capable of breaking skin.

Just had a cardiac ablation yesterday, no amphibian programs until September. Sitting here recoving with Sir Winston.

The little frog flattened against your window tonight was a different color this morning. It can shift from pale gray to green and back, matching whatever bark or leaf it's clinging to.

The gray treefrog spends its life up in the branches, gripping with sticky toe-pads that work as well on a wet leaf as on your windowpane. What pulls it to the glass after dark is the same thing pulling everything else there: the cloud of moths, gnats, and mosquitoes stacked up at the porch light.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ It's hunting, and it's good at it โ€” picking off the insects circling the bulb, then climbing back into the leaves before dawn.

Two odd details set it apart. When it leaps, it flashes hidden patches of bright orange on its inner legs โ€” there one instant, gone the next, like a card trick to confuse whatever's chasing it. And it has a twin so physically identical that even biologists can only tell the two species apart by the speed of the trill.

It pays for the winters with a trick few animals share: as the cold comes, it floods its own cells with antifreeze and lets itself freeze nearly solid โ€” heart still, breath still โ€” then thaws back to life in spring.

๐Ÿธ A few shrubs or a small tree near a little standing water, and a porch light to hunt by, is the whole of what it needs from you.
