Only one week until the kids in our area go back to school! 🚌 As you finish the last minute prep for this big day, don't forget to schedule time for play both before and after this huge change! Kindergarteners are meeting new people, in a new place, and for many this is the longest they've been away from home! For older kids, they are still meeting new teachers, dealing with harder subjects, and navigating the social situations that come with the school-year.

Kids work through big emotions, new situations, and unknowns through their play! Make sure they have time to process all of these new changes through child-led play time. Some kids prefer to process alone, others would rather have play time with a friend! Make sure your child gets this much-needed time on their schedule in the next few weeks!

An oldie...but always a goodie❤️❤️❤️

WHY NOT?
Does this hurt anyone? 🤔....NO.
Does it hurt anything? 🤔....NO.

Is this child empowered with his explorations? YES.
Is this child using so many of his senses? YES
Is this child going to learn how dry paint feels on his skin? POSSIBLY. It depends on when HE decides to wash it off.

This beautiful moment happened in my former family child care program back in 2013.

It was inspired by the book: "I Ain't Gonna Paint No More". One of my littles asked if they could paint themselves and, for the first time ever, I stopped, I 🤔🤔🤔🤔 and realized there was no good reason to say no.

It was a most beautiful morning of empowered exploration, and I was so thankful I realized that YES would not hurt a single thing.

Both from 9:30-11:30 at First Square Park!

Joining us for International Mud Day tomorrow?? I hope so! Here's how to find the fun!

Some other reminders and things you may want to bring:
- Wear clothes that you don't mind getting ruined. Mud can stain!
- You'll probably want a change of clothes and a bag to put the dirty ones in
- You may want to consider bringing a picnic or heavy snacks so you can extend the fun!
- You may still be slightly dirty or wet on your way home, even if you change. A couple towels can help protect car seats!
- Be prepared for children to get dirty head to toe, even if you don't expect it!
