We’ve been soaking up every bit of summer, and days like this remind us how special this season really is. We had a blast exploring Oshtemo Township Park with playtime and a picnic, and enjoying Kalamazoo 10 Theatre for a showing of The Wild Robot. It’s been such a joy getting out into the community and making memories together.

It’s hard to believe, but the school year will be here before we know it. As families start to prepare, we’re here to help make that transition smoother.

We are currently enrolling for our School Age program, offering before and after school care with transportation provided by Vicksburg Community Schools. We also have a few spots available in our Mixed Age PreK program.

We had an amazing time on our recent field trip to the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. Students explored a wide range of interactive exhibits, diving into hands-on STEM activities and discovering fascinating pieces of history along the way. From experimenting with science concepts to engaging with local and global stories, the day was filled with curiosity, excitement, and learning.

Experiences like this are what make learning come alive. Our students not only had fun, but also built knowledge, asked questions, and connected classroom concepts to the real world in meaningful ways.

We currently have a couple of spots left in our summer program for students entering 3rd through 5th grade. If you are looking for a program that blends fun, learning, and exploration, we would love to have your child join us.

We also offer before and after school care during the school year, providing a safe, engaging environment that supports both academic growth and social development.

We’ve had so much fun exploring water and sensory play this week. From floating boats and discovering tiny frogs to digging and creating in our dirt sensory table, our students are learning through hands-on, meaningful experiences every day.

In our Mixed Age PreK program, we value play as a powerful way to build curiosity, confidence, and connection. These moments of discovery help children develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and a love of learning in a supportive, engaging environment.

We currently have a few openings for both our summer program and the upcoming school year. We would love for more children to join us and experience the joy of interactive learning and play.

We have exciting news for our playground! Our new swing set has been installed and will be ready for students to enjoy when school starts on Monday.

Does your child love to swing, laugh, and play all day? We have a few spots open in our mixed-age PreK classroom (ages 2 years, 9 months to 5 years) for summer and the upcoming school year—come join the fun!

A special thank you to Trevor Genther, owner of Third Coast Outdoors, for not only installing the swing set but also going the extra mile to shift and perfectly level the pea gravel in that area of the playground.

Our School Age program had an unforgettable day filled with adventure, choice, and nonstop fun. The morning kicked off at Lakeview Park, where children explored a variety of activities based on their interests. Ms. Haley led energetic pickleball games, Ms. Mya and Ms. Liz guided engaging nature walks, and Ms. Brooklyn kept the playground buzzing with excitement. Giving children the freedom to choose their own activity helped create a day full of joy, movement, and meaningful connections.

The fun didn’t stop there. In the afternoon, the group headed to Jungle Joe’s, where the kids bounced, climbed, and laughed. It was the perfect way to wrap up a day full of fresh air, friendship, and fun.

We’re thrilled to continue offering these memorable experiences all summer long. We currently have a few spots still available in our Upper Elementary program (grades 3–5) for families who are still looking for summer care. We would love to have your child join us for the rest of the season.

We’re excited to share that our Lead Mixed Age PreK Teacher, Ms. Nicole, currently has a few openings in her classroom for both summer and fall enrollment!

Ms. Nicole was recently honored as a recipient of the Sandy Standish Teacher Excellence Award through Kalamazoo County Ready 4s, recognizing her commitment to high-quality, joyful pre-kindergarten learning. We are so proud of the warm, engaging environment she creates every day, and we’d love to welcome a few more children into her classroom community.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms in our LCB community! 💐

Today we celebrate the love, patience, strength, and endless care you pour into your children each and every day. We are so grateful to partner with such amazing families, and it’s truly a joy to watch your little ones grow and thrive with your support behind them.

We also want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Tea Party Cookie Decorating Fundraiser yesterday! Your participation, generosity, and smiles made the event so special—and every bit of support brings us one step closer to enhancing our playground for the children.

This week, we proudly celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, and our hearts are absolutely full of gratitude for the incredible preschool and school-age team that makes our program so special.

Every single day, our teachers show up with dedication, compassion, and purpose - playing a vital role in shaping the healthy growth and development of our nation’s youth. Through the intentional use of the HighScope curriculum, our children are empowered to take initiative, make choices, and build confidence as active learners. With the support of the Second Step curriculum, our team nurtures social-emotional skills, helping children develop empathy, problem-solving abilities, and strong relationships that will guide them throughout their lives. This work matters deeply, and it does not go unnoticed.

To celebrate this amazing team, we enjoyed a full week of appreciation fun:
🍩Monday kicked things off with “You ‘donut’ know how much we appreciate you!” - a sweet start with donuts to match our sweet staff.
🥤Tuesday we were “Soda-lighted to have teachers and staff like you!” with a fun and refreshing dirty soda bar.
🍿Wednesday reminded us that our teachers make us “pop” with appreciation, celebrated with popcorn and flavored water.
🍎Thursday honored our team as the “apple of our eye” with a delicious caramel apple bar.
🌮 And today, we wrapped up the week recognizing that our team is “nacho” average teachers—with a well-deserved nacho bar celebration!

👚Thanks to generous monetary donations, we were able to treat our teachers to personalized cups, shirts, notebooks, and sweet treats!

🩷 This week would not have been possible without the incredible support from our community. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the many families who contributed, the LCB administration team, Kalamazoo County Ready 4s, and Celebration Cinema for helping us make this week so meaningful and memorable.

To our teachers: thank you for your passion, your patience, your creativity, and your unwavering commitment to children and families. You are making a lasting impact every single day, and we are beyond grateful to have such an exceptional team.
