Vicksburg Warren School District's Academy of Innovation is an accelerated program of study for junior high (grades 7 and 8) students in the Vicksburg Warren School District. It provides project based learning opportunities for those students who exhibit exceptional abilities in academics. Students will have the opportunity to participate in learning processes that incorporate thinking, exploratio

n, and projects while integrating college and career state standards in a STEM based environment. The Academy is a combination of individualized instruction and cooperative learning experiences designed to accommodate various learning styles. This dynamic blend of kinesthetic, visual, and auditory instructional methods aid student development pertaining to communication skills, building teamwork and leadership skills, refining workplace-readiness skills, and participating in relevant career-learning activities. Engaging, hands-on classroom environments support students as they complete student-directed learning units, self-directed lessons, and small-group collaborative activities. The Academy students are paired with a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) classroom solutions that are equally robust and engaging. The academy is designed to supplement science, technology, engineering, and math concepts through the use of small-group investigation and experimentation. This blended element enables teachers to provide content that relates mutually with diverse pedagogy and methodology.

🏁🏎️ START YOUR ENGINES… IT’S THE AOI 500! 🏎️🏁

Our Exploring Careers students have been studying careers and pathways within the ACME Academy, and today they put their skills to the test with a hands-on challenge!

Students designed and manufactured their very own racecars before bringing them to the track for our FIRST-EVER AOI 500! 🏁

Today’s winners were recognized for:
🏆 Longest Traveling Car in each class
✨ Cleanest Ride in each class

From designing and building to testing and racing, our students got to experience the creativity, problem-solving, manufacturing, and engineering skills that connect directly to careers in the ACME Academy.

We had an AMAZING time—and we’re already looking forward to the next race! 🏎️💨

A HUGE thank you to International Paper for visiting our Exploring Careers classes and sharing all about the exciting career opportunities within their industry!Our students have been studying careers in the Architecture, Construction & Manufacturing Pathway, and International Paper brought that learning to life with an incredible hands-on activity where students got to manufacture their very own paper! How cool is that?!

We are so grateful for community partners like International Paper who take the time to invest in our students, expose them to real-world careers, and show them that the skills they are learning today can lead to exciting opportunities tomorrow!

Help us celebrate our outstanding Ravens who are kicking off the school year by putting the 7 Habits into action! 🐦💙

Congratulations to Aliyah Bryant, Beatriz Bandiera, Sarai Drake, and Ella Watkins on being selected as our August Students of the Month! 🎉

Each of these students is demonstrating what it means to be a leader through hard work, responsibility, kindness, teamwork, and a commitment to doing their very best. We are so proud of the positive example they are setting for their classmates and our entire AOI community!

Help us celebrate our August Teacher of the Month, Ms. Jerrica Wells! 🩵

Ms. Wells has already made a BIG impact this school year! From knocking our beginning-of-the-year Growth Field Trip out of the park to stepping up when she saw a need, she has jumped right in and is doing an incredible job serving as our interim 7th grade math teacher. 📚➗
