🎉👶 Real-Life Lessons in Action at Vicksburg High Schooll! 👶🎉

Mrs. Tamriel McBride’s Child Development class wrapped up last semester with the unforgettable “Sugar/Flour Baby” Project — and our students truly rose to the challenge! 💚

After carefully creating their “infants,” students stepped into the role of parenthood with full responsibility — providing around-the-clock care, protection, and attention. From late-night check-ins to bringing their babies to school, these future leaders experienced firsthand the commitment, patience, and responsibility that comes with caring for a child.

This hands-on project goes beyond textbooks — it builds empathy, accountability, time management skills, and real-world understanding. We are so proud of the maturity and dedication our students demonstrated throughout this meaningful experience!

Please join Vicksburg High School in celebrating Dr. Rhondilyn Semien Nix — a proud Black woman, an inspiring leader, and Vicksburg High School’s English 3 teacher — on successfully defending her dissertation, "Factors Influencing African-American Male College Choice," for Jackson State University's Executive Ph.D. Urban Higher Education Program.

Dr. Nix’s dedication to scholarship, her commitment to students, and her tireless work to uplift young Black men through research and mentorship reflect the very best of our community. Her achievement is a powerful reminder that representation matters and that Black women continue to lead with brilliance, grace, and purpose.

Vicksburg High linebacker Wallys Curry was named the MHSAA Region 2-5A Defensive MVP, as well as Class 5A All-State, and three other Gators were named the best at their positions in the region.
