💗 WOMANHOOD WEDNESDAY | Growing Gator Leaders 🐊

Womanhood Wednesday gives our young ladies opportunities to build confidence, character, and leadership while discovering their voices and recognizing that everyone can be a leader. Through meaningful conversations, mentorship, and shared experiences, we strengthen a Culture of Collaboration & Support while encouraging our scholars to take greater Ownership of who they are becoming and how they positively impact their school and community.

🐊 A Look Back at This Week at VIS! 💚🖤

What a week for our Gators! From learning in the classroom to opportunities for students to lead, collaborate, and grow, there was so much happening across our campus.

This week was a great reminder that our Strategic Framework comes to life through the work we do every day—building strong relationships, creating meaningful learning experiences, and helping every student grow as a leader.

Through Leader in Me, our Gators are learning that leadership isn’t just a title—it’s how we show up, work together, and take ownership of our growth.

One Team. One Goal. Growing Leaders. 🐊

🐊📚 Engagement in Action in Mrs. Killen’s ELA Classroom!

Mrs. Killen is creating opportunities for students to take an active role in their learning! Today, her students used the Jigsaw strategy to work together, become experts on a portion of the lesson, and then teach their classmates what they learned.

This strategy gives students more than a chance to participate—it gives them a chance to lead. Each student had something important to contribute, and their classmates depended on them to share their learning. Along the way, students practiced communication, collaboration, listening, and taking ownership of their work.

This is Leader in Me and the VWSD priority to Empower Students as Leaders coming to life in the classroom. When we give students the opportunity to share their voice, take responsibility, and learn from one another, we help them see themselves as capable leaders—not just in the classroom, but beyond it.

👏🏾 Way to go, Mrs. Killen, for putting students in the driver’s seat and showing us what student engagement and student leadership can look like!

One Team. One Goal. 🐊💚💛

🔨💻 COMPUTER SCIENCE SPOTLIGHT! 💻🔨

Our Computer Science scholars are discovering that algorithms aren’t just for computers—they help us solve problems in the real world! 🧠⚙️

Through “Hammers & Algorithms” in We Will Build It Better, a STEM kit received through Amazon, students explored simple tools and tool safety while learning how algorithms can provide a clear sequence of steps for completing a task.

Mrs. Clanton, the facilitator of the learning in this classroom, has created a hands-on experience that is Leader in Me in action—giving our scholars opportunities to take ownership of their learning, think through challenges, make decisions, and see themselves as capable problem-solvers and leaders. Way to go, STUDENTS! Way to go, MRS. CLANTON!

Experiences like this support the VWSD strategic priorities by creating meaningful opportunities for scholars to think critically, collaborate, solve problems, and apply their learning in authentic ways.

At VIS, we aren't just preparing students to use technology—we're preparing them to THINK. BUILD. CREATE. LEAD. 🐊💚💛

Good afternoon parents! Please be reminded that ALL car riders must have their decals visible in your vehicle during pick-up. This is to ensure that students enter the correct vehicles and that the line progresses as quickly and safely as possible. As a reminder all transportation changes must be in writing and students can only ride the bus to their registered address. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

🎉🍦 **POSITIVE BEHAVIOR POP-UP!** 🍦🎉

Surprise! These lucky scholars received a coupon for a FREE Dairy Queen treat for demonstrating **EXEMPLAR BEHAVIOR!** 🐊💚✨

Although there were MANY scholars who consistently demonstrated our school and classroom expectations, today we’re shining the spotlight on these students for going above and beyond! 🌟

They showed us what it means to “Be Proactive” ! They took responsibility for their choices, made positive decisions, and demonstrated leadership without being asked. 👏🏽

This celebration also supports and reflects a positive school culture, student success, and leadership development. When scholars make good choices, take ownership of their actions, and contribute to a positive learning environment, everyone wins!💚💛

🐊 Keep being YOU, young leaders!
You never know when Mrs. King will POP UP again with a special treat! 🍦🎉

Positive choices. Exemplary behavior. Student leadership.

📚💚 Learning, Leading & Growing Together!

Yesterday, students from Mrs. Stuart's 4th grade classes worked in the spirit of synergy during a Text Evidence Scavenger Hunt, working together to dissect their HMH passage and find evidence to support their answers. 🔎📖

🌟 Leadership was displayed as Demani Omiyewo took the lead during Critical Vocabulary, guiding his classmates through the words, definitions, and sentence practice!

Our students are making meaningful contributions to living out Priority Area 2 of our District Framework: Develop a Culture of Collaboration and Support in action—Students are collaborating, supporting one another, and being empowered as leaders and change agents.
