This is what happens when access meets opportunity ✨

Praxis Signing Day wasn’t just about registering for an exam—it was about opening doors 🚪, building pathways 🛤️, and making sure our future educators have real access to the profession 📚👩🏽‍🏫👨🏽‍🏫. This is workforce development in action 💼. This is equity on purpose ⚖️.

Our students showed up ready, excited, and committed 🔥🙌🏽. The energy in the room was undeniable 💫. Hearing them say I was a blessing… that’s confirmation that this work matters—but the real blessing is watching them step into their purpose 💙🙏🏽.

When we remove barriers 🚧 and provide support 🤝, students don’t just participate—they thrive 🌱🌟.

This is bigger than a test 📝
This is about strengthening the teacher pipeline 👩🏽‍🏫➡️🏫
This is about investing in people 💡

The teacher shortage isn’t just a talking point—it’s a systems issue backed by data.

Research shows:
📉 Over 400,000 teaching positions are either vacant or filled by underqualified educators nationwide. 
📊 Nearly 3 out of 4 schools struggle to find qualified teachers. 
⚠️ And the root causes? Low pay, burnout, lack of support, and declining interest in the profession. 

Let’s be clear—this is not just a pipeline problem.
It’s a leadership, workforce, and policy alignment problem.

If we want different outcomes, we have to:
✔️ Invest in teacher preparation AND retention
✔️ Align policy with real workforce needs
✔️ Support educators beyond the classroom

It’s one thing to talk about the shortage…
It’s another thing to do the work to fix it.

This week at Jackson State University’s Praxis Success Workshop, we didn’t just prepare for an exam, we invested in the future of education. From targeted instruction to real-time engagement, our scholars leaned into the work required to lead classrooms with confidence and competence.

Praxis success is not accidental—it is intentional. It requires structure, support, and strategic partnerships.

What a powerful and necessary conversation.

Today’s Praxis, HB 1528, & Educator Workforce Alignment Convening at Jackson State University brought together leaders across policy, K-12, higher education, and practice—and the energy in the room was undeniable.

I am incredibly grateful for the leadership, insight, and commitment shown by every panelist and participant.

While HB 1528 did not pass, the conversations it sparked are far from over. What was clear today is that Mississippi is ready to move forward—with intention, alignment, and action.

This is how we strengthen the teacher pipeline.
This is how we support our future educators.
This is how we lead.
