The Huntsville Botanical Garden is excited to host a FREE STEM Night for Teachers on Monday, July 27, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. The event is open to educators in your network, including public and private school teachers, homeschool educators, and preservice teachers.
During the evening, educators will:
Learn about educational programs and resources available at Huntsville Botanical Garden
Experience hands-on STEM activities they can take back to their classrooms
Enjoy a guided Garden tour
Receive refreshments
Have the chance to win a Family Membership to the Garden
The goal is to celebrate and support educators as they prepare for a new school year by providing practical ideas, inspiration, and opportunities to connect with the Garden.

There is still room to attend the Feeding and Fueling the World workshop in Florence!

Bring science to life in your classroom with Feeding and Fueling the World. Register for ’s 2-day immersive workshop on the science of food production & sustainable fuels. June 11–12. Florence.

Through Feeding and Fueling the World workshops, teachers will:
Know how biotechnology is utilized to solve problems in agriculture
Understand how human impacts affect soil health and water quality
Be able to describe how modern farming practices will feed the growing population

🌱 Conference Proposals Are Now Open for ASTA 2027! 🌱

Do you have a lesson, strategy, lab activity, STEM project, or classroom success story that could inspire other science educators?

The Alabama Science Teaching Association (ASTA) is now accepting program proposals for the 2027 ASTA Conference, taking place February 15–16, 2027 at the Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

This year's theme is "Growing with the Science Standards" with the conference tagline "Rooted in Standards, Growing in Practice." We are looking for engaging sessions that help educators strengthen science instruction, deepen student learning, and connect with fellow science teachers across Alabama.

We welcome:
🔬 Hands-on lessons and demonstrations
🌎 Innovative classroom strategies
🧪 STEM and inquiry-based learning experiences
📚 Standards-based instructional practices
🤝 Collaborative and interactive sessions
🌱 Success stories from your classroom

Whether you're a first-time presenter or a seasoned conference speaker, we encourage you to share your expertise and help fellow educators grow!

What is the Teacher Training Disco?

Join us at the Disco, as we Dive Into SEF Competitions & Opportunities! We will be hosting teacher trainings this summer in June, August and September. During each 6 hour session, we will focus on how to get involved in SEF, what makes a good project, and how to tackle the paperwork. We are excited to invite you to an upcoming professional development training focused on Invention Convention — a powerful, student-centered program that sparks creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving!

This training is designed to equip you with everything you need to guide your students through the invention process, from identifying a problem to designing and presenting an original solution.

What You'll Learn:
• An overview of the Invention Convention program and its benefits
• How to introduce the invention process to your students
• Strategies for supporting students at every stage — brainstorming, prototyping, and presenting
• Resources, rubrics, and tools you can use right away in your classroom
