ENCoDe had an awesome time at the 44th annual Strawberry Festival in Historic Downtown Owego this past Saturday! 🍓 The weather couldn't have been better, and it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. Families enjoyed some bubbles, face memory games, and got to learn about EEG from our assistant Hector the bear. Several other labs from the Binghamton University Psychology Department were there with us, including MAC2 Research Laboratory, CAMP Lab, Mom and Infant Study, and . Hope everyone had a good time enjoying the sun and strawberries. 🍓😎

Today, ENCoDe had the pleasure of hosting 4th-grade students from for their STEAM Tour to Binghamton University ! Students learned about augmented reality, learned about fossils, did hands-on demonstrations with electrostatics and dry ice, extracted iron from cereal, and got to visit our Magnet Resonance Imaging simulator! We shared how an MRI scanner works and how we use it to study the brain and changes across the lifespan in our research. At the end, the students got to try out the MRI simulator themselves or try out wearing one of our EEG caps! Thank you so much to Rachel Coker, the campus contact at Binghamton Univerisity, and Sheri Brewer, the Brookside Elementary School contact, for making this a fun and educating day!

Hello friends! Hope you all had a great weekend- ENCoDe sure did! Our lab, along with , Binghamton Mom and Infant Study, and MAC2 Research Laboratory made our way out to the Vestal Festival, put on by the Vestal Recreation Department this past Saturday! There were so many fun things to do and see, and we were so happy that the weather cleared up for the rest of the day. We saw so many smiling faces and families that were interested in our research and learning about the brain. The ENCoDe Team had a busy weekend! April is Autism Awareness month, and we had the pleasure of attending the Alive With Autism Autism Walk this past Saturday, over at Broome-Tioga BOCES! There was a great turnout of people supporting the cause. Even thought the weather wasn't great, we were still able to complete the walk inside the building. Then, on Sunday, we tabled at the 43rd Annual Children's far at SUNY Broome Community College! We had a couple of crafts and activities to share, including brain hats, crossword puzzles, and a test-your-face-memory game. It was a great turnout, and we had a lot of fun. Thank you to both of these groups for organizing and hosting these events!

Congratulations to one of our senior undergraduate research assistants, Sama Nada, who presented her research project on predicting infant MRI outcomes for acquisitions during natural sleep at the Psi Chi and Nu Rho Psi Research Fair at Binghamton University today! Sama's work hopes to help guide infant research utilizing natural sleep MRIs by looking at an infant's typical sleeping habits, and she modeled these predictions using a classification decision and gradient boosted decision tree. While we are proud of the work she has done in the lab, we will be very sad to see her go. On to the next great adventure!
