🎙️🐾 Fifth Grade Field Trip: Learning Beyond the Classroom!🐾🎙️

What a day for our Huntertown Media Club & Leadership Team! Our fifth graders took their learning on the road for an exciting day filled with podcasting, journalism, community connections, and a whole lot of fun! 🎬🎤

Our day began with a visit to the Woodford County Chamber Of Commerce, where students got an inside look at the filming and editing of What's Up Woodford! and learned more about how local organizations share stories and connect our community. We even had the opportunity to see professional podcasting in action and talk with people who help tell Woodford County’s story!

From there, we headed to the Woodford County Library, where students put their new knowledge to work through interviews and conversations with members of the library team. They asked questions, learned about different library careers, and got a behind-the-scenes look at all the ways our public library serves our community. 📚🎙️

And, of course, no field trip is complete without some fun! We enjoyed lunch at Rolling Oven 🍕, stopped by to see Ms. Dixie at Corner Drug for ice cream 🍦, and spent some time playing and relaxing at the park.

A very special thank-you to Emily and Corey at the Woodford County Chamber Of Commerce for welcoming our students and sharing their expertise. We are also incredibly grateful to Ms. Bookie, Ms. Stacy, Ms. Rebekah, and Ms. Kate at the Woodford County Library for making our visit so engaging and memorable! And to Ms. Rhonda at the Woodford Co Transportation Dept who complimented and encouraged our kids!

And what a surprise for Judge/Executive James Kay to pop in for an impromptu interview with our students! 🎤 What an incredible real-world journalism opportunity!

Our students are learning that being a storyteller isn't just about reading and writing but also about asking questions, listening, connecting with people, and sharing the stories of our community.

We are so proud of this group of young leaders and can't wait to see where their curiosity takes them next! 💙🐾🎙️📚

Students read, learned, and then took their learning outside to explore our school garden making the connection between what we read and the food, plants, and agriculture that are part of our everyday lives. 💚
