βοΈ Erin Beth Baker is the Distinguished Young Woman of Woodford County! βοΈ
Distinguished Young Women (DYW) is an outstanding program that seeks to bring out the best in each of its participants. When asked about her favorite part of the program, Erin Beth says, "My favorite part of the DYW experience would be the community and the friendships that it brought along with it. Some of these girls I've known since I was five years old. The ability to not only compete with them but to grow my relationships with them was definitely something that I will treasure and forever cherish."
We love hearing how our students grew during the Distinguished Young Women program. Erin Beth says, "Over the past three years, I have definitely dedicated myself to making sure that my scholastics were something that I am very proud of. I knew from a young age that I wanted to compete in this program, which is one of the reasons that I strive so hard to maintain a good GPA. We had weeks and months of preparation, meeting twice per week for fitness routines or even just to talk about what needed to be done. The week before the event, we had practice every single day."
Erin Beth adds, "The directors of the program really prepared us by giving us interview skills with mock trials. They made us feel like we could say anything, no matter the situation. They wanted us to feel like we had a voice as a woman and as a young lady in today's society. This allowed me to realize that just because I am young, it doesn't mean that puts a damper on what I can do in the community. This position allows me to lead younger girls into knowing their purposes and what they can achieve in life." π
We are so happy for you, Erin Beth, and we are cheering you on as you prepare to represent Woodford County at the Distinguished Young Women of Kentucky program!
Congratulations to Erin Beth! β¨
