The Woodford County Masons (Buford-Landmark Lodge #41 F&AM) are incredible partners to Woodford County Public Schools! The Masons support students and schools in many ways. A great example of their support is through the Woodford County Backpack Program which assists families by providing meals to avoid hunger at home.

Please consider participating in their golf scramble on Monday, August 31, to help them be able to provide support to students and families through the Woodford County Backpack Program!

🗓️ Calendar Reminder: No School on Labor Day (Monday, September 7) 🗓️

WCPS is IN School on Friday, September 4, but there is NO school on Monday, September 7 (Labor Day).

On the morning of the second day of school at Northside Elementary, Mrs. Robin Taylor, Principal, and Mrs. Lerin Parker, Administrative Dean, set out to get their new-to-Northside students sorted into Houses!

Being sorted into Houses gives students a smaller group within their school that is theirs! Houses create a deep sense of belonging and provide kids with so much growth. 🖤❤️ 💚💙

When a student pulled their bracelet out of the box to reveal their House, we wish you could have heard the excitement coming from the House that was welcoming a new member! What is even more amazing...we wish you could have heard the excitement coming from the other Houses as they cheered on their friends finding a home in another House. That is the beauty of the House System!

Not to mention...Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Parker made the whole experience SO. MUCH. FUN. With music, confetti, and a lot of excitement, Northside sorted new students in a very special way. 🥳

⭐️ Erin Beth Baker is the Distinguished Young Woman of Woodford County! ⭐️

Distinguished Young Women (DYW) is an outstanding program that seeks to bring out the best in each of its participants. When asked about her favorite part of the program, Erin Beth says, "My favorite part of the DYW experience would be the community and the friendships that it brought along with it. Some of these girls I've known since I was five years old. The ability to not only compete with them but to grow my relationships with them was definitely something that I will treasure and forever cherish."

We love hearing how our students grew during the Distinguished Young Women program. Erin Beth says, "Over the past three years, I have definitely dedicated myself to making sure that my scholastics were something that I am very proud of. I knew from a young age that I wanted to compete in this program, which is one of the reasons that I strive so hard to maintain a good GPA. We had weeks and months of preparation, meeting twice per week for fitness routines or even just to talk about what needed to be done. The week before the event, we had practice every single day."

Erin Beth adds, "The directors of the program really prepared us by giving us interview skills with mock trials. They made us feel like we could say anything, no matter the situation. They wanted us to feel like we had a voice as a woman and as a young lady in today's society. This allowed me to realize that just because I am young, it doesn't mean that puts a damper on what I can do in the community. This position allows me to lead younger girls into knowing their purposes and what they can achieve in life." 💛

We are so happy for you, Erin Beth, and we are cheering you on as you prepare to represent Woodford County at the Distinguished Young Women of Kentucky program!
