Low Tech/No Tech Tuesdays

Core Guidelines

(Except for Computer Classes)

Our Commitment: Providing students with a balanced learning experience that incorporates both technology-rich instruction and screen-free learning opportunities.

Tuesday Focus: Intentionally reduce student Chromebook use. Emphasize face-to-face collaboration, active discussion, writing, critical thinking, and hands-on activities.

Benefits & Balance (Why & How We Do It)

Key Benefits: Regular screen reduction strengthens peer communication, improves student focus, enhances fine motor/writing skills, and promotes instructional variety.

Balanced Approach: This initiative is not meant to eliminate technology when it is instructionally necessary. Use digital resources when they best support learning, but replace screens when possible.

Today is the day we finally welcome our students back into the building, and we have some exciting things to show off in our Middle School!

🏋️ Randy Washburn Middle School Fitness Room

The Middle School Fitness Room has received a major upgrade over the summer, thanks to our incredible donor, Randy Washburn.

Randy has contributed an overwhelming amount to our school district with one goal in mind: providing equal and better opportunities for the students in our district. His generosity, dedication, and heart for our students do not go unnoticed at MCR-II. We are incredibly fortunate to have his support!

The Randy Washburn Middle School Fitness Room now includes:

5 full racks with custom colors and logos
2 dumbbell racks
Dumbbells
1 kettlebell rack
Kettlebells
Jump boxes
3 hex bars
Leg curl/extension machine
Rubber plates, bars, benches, clips, and safety racks

The Fitness Room will serve as a supplement to our PE classes for the 26-27 school year. Our teachers are prepared to provide instruction in proper technique, terminology, safety, and skills while helping our students build confidence and develop a strong foundation for fitness.

We are incredibly proud of this addition to our Middle School and are excited for our students and staff to enjoy this space for years to come!

Thank you, Randy Washburn, for investing in our students and helping make this opportunity possible! 🐯💪

CHROMEBOOK REMINDERS
Technology is an important part of learning at VMS!

Incoming 6th graders and new students will receive a Chromebook, charger, case, and ID card. Students are responsible for taking care of these items throughout their time at VMS.

Bring your charged Chromebook to school every day.
Keep your Chromebook in its case.
Use your Chromebook as a learning tool.
Only the district Technology Department should repair school-issued devices.
Students may check out a loaner Chromebook from the library up to three times per semester if they forget their device or while their assigned device is being repaired.

Important: Replacement costs may apply for lost or damaged equipment, including a $25 charger and $30 case.

Each week, VMS will participate in Low Tech/No Tech Tuesdays, where we limit the use of technology for students where we can during the school day.

PERSONAL DEVICES
Cell phones and other personal electronic devices are not permitted for unauthorized use during the regular school day. Once the students enter the building, they are not allowed to use their personal devices. Once they are out of the building at the end of the day, they may use their personal devices.

Let's keep our focus where it belongs—learning, relationships, and being ALL IN! 🐯

A FEW VMS SUCCESS TIPS
✨ Be on time. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to learn when the tardy bell rings.

✨ Check Google Classroom/Infinite Campus every day. Tiger Time is a great opportunity to check assignments and due dates.

✨ Take responsibility for your learning. Grades are updated weekly and can be viewed through Infinite Campus.

✨ Get involved! VMS offers athletics, clubs, performing arts, archery, student council, FFA, Art Club, FCA, and more.

✨ Ask for help! Our teachers, office staff, counselor, nurse, and administrators are here to help students have a successful year.

✨ Stay connected! Families are encouraged to use ParentSquare for school updates, messages, alerts, calendar events, and important information.

IMPORTANT: COMPLETE ENROLLMENT
Before school begins, please make sure your student is fully enrolled and that you have submitted an approved proof of residency as part of the registration process. The office has or will contact you if your student is on hold for missing or incomplete information. This must be resolved before the first day of school.

Don't wait until the first day—take care of enrollment requirements now so your Tiger is ready to start the year!

MOST IMPORTANTLY...
We are excited to welcome every Tiger back to VMS!

This year, let's commit to being:

ALL IN on learning.
ALL IN on effort.
ALL IN on respect.
ALL IN on relationships.
ALL IN on being a great Tiger.

Because at VMS, ALL IN. ALL GOLD. Every Student. Every Day.

Let's make 2026–2027 our GOLDEN year!

📣 The first day of school is almost here!📣

The 2026–2027 school year begins on Tuesday, August 25. We can't wait to welcome our Tigers back to school!

Here's are some quick reminder for families:
• Student drop-off begins at 7:15 a.m.
• Classes begin at 7:50 a.m.
• The school day ends at 3:30 p.m.

🚍 A little patience goes a long way during the first few days!
As new students, preschoolers, and kindergarteners learn routines and become familiar with locating their buses at the end of the school day, dismissal may take a little longer than normal. Buses may be delayed leaving the parking lot as we work to make sure every student locates their assigned school bus.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we begin another great school year. We look forward to Moving Forward. Together. 🐅🚌
