Kentucky Community & Technical College System

Kentucky Community & Technical College System For most Kentuckians, higher education begins at the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is the only community college system in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. KCTCS was created by the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997 (House Bill 1). Our 16 colleges and over 70 campuses are deeply rooted in the educational history and tradition of Kentucky. July 1, 2008, marked the 10th anniversary of the unification of

Kentucky’s postsecondary community colleges and technical institutions, some dating back to the early 1900’s.

Beechwood High School counselor Megan Minton is helping students see what’s possible after graduation and find the path that’s right for them.

Named the 2026 KCTCS Pathfinder of the Year, Minton has helped expand access to dual credit, career-connected programs, and affordable college pathways. As part of the recognition, a Beechwood student will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend any of the 16 colleges within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.

Congratulations, Megan, and thank you for helping Kentucky students build confidence, break down barriers and create brighter futures.
