Since 1945 there have been 812 National FCCLA Officers, 17 of which have been from Kentucky. We are proud to add Sutton to that list!

Sutton began the National Officer Candidate Process in February 2025 by being approved by the Kentucky Association of FCCLA and submitting her “intent to run”. Prior to the National Leadership Conference, she completed an application comprised of 3 recommendation letters, two essays and a personal resume. She also participated in candidate orientations, and took a 50 question FCCLA Knowledge test.

Once we arrived in Orlando, Sutton, alongside 27 Candidates from across the country participated in NOC Orientation and Teambuilding, Nominating Committee Interviews, and a Fishbowl activity which assessed the candidates ability to work together. Upon moving on to the Top 20 group of candidates, Sutton participated in Voting Delegate Networking with representatives from all 50 states, gave a 3 minute speech, answered an on stage question, and participated in a training with the National Leadership Training Team.

She received a letter on Monday morning letting her know that she had been elected to the National Executive Council (NEC) and participated in 3 days of training and got to work with members of National Staff, earning her position as National Vice President of Programs! 🌹
