We were happy to host a special event today. Serena Buschi performed a singing bowl meditation for our students and their guests. For many, it was truly profound. It helped quiet the mind, soften the body, and brought awareness in subtle ways that are often overlooked. Some experienced even greater personal depths. Thank you for bringing this to us Serena!

When stress becomes non-stop, your body stays trapped in "fight-or-flight" mode…leading to high blood pressure, muscle tension, and elevated stress hormones that put heavy strain on your heart.

Always good to reshare this when it comes up in memories…from 2017:

Sifu Richard Clear today - doing the Clear Tai Chi 13 set - a derivative of Lee Ying Arng Tai Chi.

Warning: (Obviously this means indoors, too) In TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), weather events are not just physical phenomena; they represent shifts in environmental energy (Qi). A thunderstorm is considered an atmosphere of turbulent, unstable, and violent Yang energy. Because Tai Chi and Qigong open the body's meridians and pores (Còulǐ), practicing during a storm makes you vulnerable to absorbing this erratic energy or pathoclimatic "perverse factors" (such as Wind and Damp).

Shock to the Shen (Spirit): The internal arts require deep relaxation and a receptive, quiet mind. Sudden loud noises or flashes of light while you are in a deep meditative or relaxed state cause sudden fright (Jīng). In TCM, sudden shock scatters Qi and directly harms the Heart, which houses the Xin (heart mind). This disruption can cause heart palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, or what traditional texts describe as Qi deviation (energetic stagnation or misdirection).

Electromagnetic Agitation: High atmospheric electrical charge often leaves practitioners feeling overstimulated, "wired," or restless rather than calm and grounded.

Join Master Richard Clear, for an exclusive Push Hands for Self-Defense Workshop in NYC! If you're ready to bridge the gap between your Tai Chi form and real-world application, this is where it happens.

Combat Tai Chi is developed through Push Hands...

BUT it doesn't happen automatically, or by accident. If you want to use your Tai Chi for self-defense, there are specific training methods you need in order to bridge the gap.

This workshop will cover the methods and priorities you should ALWAYS keep in mind if you want to turn your Tai Chi into a workable martial art.

This afternoon workshop will leave you with EXACTLY what to train (and how to train it) so that you can be confident your Tai Chi will work for self-defense if/when you need it.
