Hello all,

Students who read have the power to succeed! Help our CKCS students become stronger readers with Reading Corps. As a Reading Tutor, you’ll work with CKCS elementary students who need extra practice and skill building. No experience needed – the most important qualification is your desire to make a difference!

The position is 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday) during CKCS school hours. Please help spread the word and share this with someone you know! Our Reading Mastery Transformations textbooks have arrived! A huge THANK YOU to all families who helped with the fundraising effort to upgrade our foundational literacy skills curriculum that makes CKCS so amazing. K-2 teachers and educational assistants spent two days this week training to learn the new program. More information will be sent as we get closer to the school year!

Happy Retirement to Ms. Julie Bie!

Ms. Bie has dedicated 28 years to the Verona Area School District at Core Knowledge Charter School (CKCS) teaching 2nd and 3rd grade students with patience, kindness, and care. She has been a helpful and supportive teacher to students and families throughout her years in education. Families have had nothing but positive things to say about Ms. Bie over the years. Ms. Bie will officially retire at the end of this school year.

Julie is also an amazing coworker who checks in on others, no matter what obstacles she may have faced. Her smile, positive attitude, and outlook on life have helped brighten the days of CKCS staff. She will truly be missed around our school building.

We hope she enjoys this special time with her family, along with many relaxing and joyful days ahead.

We are proud of our CKCS students in grades 3-8 who recently took our spring STAR assessments in reading and math. These assessments help us monitor student learning and know where to provide additional support for student growth. We reviewed the data and wanted to acknowledge students who grew from their fall to their spring assessments by at least 20 points or more! Students received a "Way to Grow!" certificate and a marigold for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their learning! Awesome job everyone!
