The Rossetti building is getting a glow up!

Our Career Exploration students are developing their landscaping skills, using our campus green spaces as a hands-on learning work site. Beyond cleaning beds and pulling weeds, they’re also learning how to assess the site, identify appropriate plants to place, and maintain an ecosystem.

We can’t wait to see the final results!

Meet Owen, our new student board member for the 2026-27 school year!

Owen is a senior in our Auto Collision Repair class and was nominated by CTE staff members to represent our student body. He attended his first board meeting earlier this month and will join our board again in two weeks.

Welcome to Madison County!

Now that school is back in session, so is the Madison-Oneida BOCES New Visions Government, Public Administration, and Law Class. Madison County would like to welcome the 8th class to our campus. This year there are 8 students who will learn over the school year about how government works, not only on a federal level but also a local level. These students will meet with the various departments here at Madison County, and even have an opportunity to take part in an internship. We look forward to having them on campus.

Our middle school students completed a hands-on STEM project to kick off the new school year that yielded a sweet treat - S’mores!

Students read an article about how to construct a solar oven and then duplicated the process using pizza boxes, foil and other kitchen and craft materials. Once built, students put together S’mores inside the boxes, left them outside for several hours - and picked up their homemade snacks in the afternoon. During the project, students also practiced their reading and writing skills.

The sprinkles on this treat? Each student gave away some of their S’mores to staff members so they could enjoy the treats together.

Thanks to the Oneida Little Caesars Pizza for donating the boxes that students turned into ovens.

We remember.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, our students and staff at MOBOCES reflected on the event and the ways in which the world has changed.

Social Studies teachers Rachel Kent led the program in a community art project that highlighted themes of resilience, unity and heroism. Students examined several images taken during 9/11, and then added a colored ribbon to a small Remembrance Wall that matched one of the themes.

Kent said she highlights 9/11 with students each year, but she wanted to do something larger and more interactive during this milestone anniversary.

“This is an opportunity to pause and reflect and to think about the ways that images and art shape how we see and think about history,” she told students.

Over in our elementary program, students learned the significance of September 11 and gathered together for a photo on “red, white and blue day.”

Congratulations to our STARRS elementary special education program on receiving a Legacy of Impact Award from our partners at Integrated Community Alternatives Network (ICAN)!

For the past 10 years, ICAN has been an active partner in our STARRS program by providing behavior, emotional and mental health support services for our students, who live in more than a dozen school districts. They work collaboratively with our teachers, therapists and administrators to help students become successful.

Natalie Zumpano, ICAN’s Director of Community Initiatives, said the Legacy of Impact Award recognizes, among other things, a “willingness to innovate and, most importantly, the positive impact their work has had on the students and families we collectively serve.”

“One of the things that has made these partnerships so meaningful is the willingness of the districts to think creatively about how to meet the changing needs of their students,” she said.

And congratulations to our colleagues down the Thruway at Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego Boces who also received this award for a similar ICAN partnership program they offer.
