Accolades:

“Jenny intuitively understands that we all need a helping hand and support sometimes. She holds others deep in her heart, taking a sacred pause while listening. She offers her entire being for the happiness and well-being of others. Jenny has a way of communicating and understanding other sentient beings that is a rare and unique gift. And she is fulfilled when she is sharing that with others. What a huge and open heart.” ~ Jane M.

“Jenny is a very caring, compassionate, and kind person. She is also super smart. And she is ambitious and tenacious. Put those together, and you end up with a strong force for good. She embodies “be the change you wish to see in the world.” When Jenny is confronted with an issue – from a mild inconvenience to a serious problem – she looks for a solution. She thinks it through and comes up with a plan, which she follows through. Similarly, when she wants to achieve something, she makes it happen. She doesn’t give up. She is a problem-solver, a solution-finder.” ~ JRK

“Jenny is authentic and caring. She will do anything to help someone. Jenny is intelligent, independent and a problem solver. She is a creative, gifted writer and a published author. In addition to her book, 8 State Hurricane Kate, she has written several stories for the Chicken Soup for the Soul series that are incredibly heartwarming and well written. Jenny loves to learn about and connect with animals in their environment as evidenced by her trips to Baja California to observe the gray whales; her trips to Bimini Bahamas to observe dolphins, and her trip to North Dakota to observe bison… Jenny has many gifts and talents and she shares them freely to build stronger communities and improve the lives of the people and animals within.” ~ BJF

Blue came to me a bit wobbly, apparently with neuro damage to her lower back. But I have discovered many surprising things that Blue can do. You may have seen her bucking bronco display posted earlier. Here's one more thing that Blue can do...

What surprising thing can you do?

I have some sad news to share. Keanna had irreversible laminitic changes in her hoof that became very painful, and the pain was getting hard to manage. With input from her farrier and vets, I made the difficult decision to set her amazing spirit free from her increasingly painful body. We let her go on Friday, a gorgeous day. She got to spend time with her friends and graze in the shade and the breeze with her friends nearby and hawks calling in the distance. She enjoyed carrots, apples, and pears (did NOT eat bananas). She made me laugh when I was handing her treats from a container and she pushed my hand aside and stuck her nose right in the container! I'd been holding out on her.

When the vet arrived, Keanna's horse friends stood vigil while we all said goodbye. I miss this amazing girl and her incredible wisdom, s***k, and spirit. I'm grateful to Amazing Grace Equine Sanctuary for giving her a chance at a good life and entrusting her to me. I did my best to give her that great life. I'm grateful that some of her friends from Amazing Grace came to visit earlier this year while Keanna was feeling well.

Keanna's spirit still lives and I suspect I will see signs from her sometime soon. ❤

This is a wonderful story, worth a listen, especially if you have been struggling. Yes, horses (and ponies) are the most amazing healers.

Alistair Bane finds a kindred spirit in his horse, Bo.
