Here is one of our Kindergarten Lessons...a great lesson to do at home!

In Kindergarten, we like to utilize quality fiction to spark interest and take that story to a whole new level!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! Is a lesson that requires students to design and construct a free-standing number or letter that can help the children climb to the top of the coconut tree. The letter or number that the students engineer are supposed to be sturdy and it must be made out of at least two different materials.

As the students complete the challenge, they are given the opportunity to extend their thinking across other content areas such as writing or performing arts to deepen their understanding and showing how STEAM reaches far beyond the realm of science and math.

These are pictures of the letter M and the letter T engineered by Kindergarten students using materials such as pipe cleaners, straws, playdough and craft sticks.

Mermaid Meg and the Magic Lagoon create filters to help clean up the lagoon! Participants are trying to figure out how to filter the mucky water with man made or natural materials! The lesson we are doing is “I Can See Clearly Now!”
