I am currently tutoring a gentleman who is studying to earn his roofing certification. Here’s what he has to say…

Did you ever hear a door slam and never look back? High school door, that is! After school, who needs all of that math? Go to work and collect a paycheck. Then years later, are things adding up like they are supposed to???? Well for me, I forgot how to do some of the math I learned in high school. Oh Robert… Can you please help me? And BAM… Robert to the rescue! Great guy! Awesome Math tutor! Thanks for opening the memory door and teaching me what I needed to learn. Thank you!

Thank you for the letter of reference, Danielle King Casiello!

My son started meeting with Robert twice a week to fill in some gaps and build upon certain skills. Robert evaluated my son before beginning to make sure he had the correct starting point. During each session, they worked on weak areas and reviewed until mastery. Robert’s goal is not to have the student attend sessions long-term, he truly utilizes each session to help the student gain a better understanding and feel confident. Robert is kind, caring and has the best interest of the student at heart!

Another letter of reference:

October 10, 2018

Dear Madame or sir :

I am writing to you as a reference for Mr. Doueck (Bobby) as my mathematics tutor as I was transitioning from grammar school into junior high school in the mid 1970s. I was a relatively good student in most respects, but lacked focus and confidence in math. My mother, who worked in the accounting field, became concerned after she was informed at a parent teacher open house that I was falling behind the other students and my teacher was losing patience with the situation. At that time, Bobby lived in my neighborhood and was friendly with my older brother who knew him to be extremely bright and well mannered. He suggested that my mother speak to Bobby about tutoring me in this subject before making any judgments about my cognitive abilities. Bobby began tutoring me in math within days of their conversation.

We were learning about fractions – multiplication, division, and conversion to and from decimals in school at the time. My teacher had little patience for failure or slow problem solving. She frequently called students to the front of the classroom to solve problems on the blackboard and relished the chance to place struggling students alongside high performers as a motivation tactic, I suppose. Suffice it to say, I did not do well under those conditions.

The first thing Bobby did was to sit down and talk with me about what was going on in school and what the environment was like in the classroom. He immediately recognized that I did not lack the ability to solve the problems, but instead, recognized that I was terribly shy and had virtually no self-confidence when it came to working through the problems.

As the weeks turned into several months, I became the best math student in my class. It is hard for me to explain how valuable that experience was for me at that time (43 years ago). It is not hyperbole to suggest that it had a profound impact on me into adulthood. Bobby‘s ability to make math fun (to demystify math), rather than terrifying, to build my confidence by allowing me to succeed while gently correcting my errors turned me into a better student across my entire curriculum. It was so impactful that I can recall it as though it all happened yesterday. Today I am a Managing Director for a fortune 250 company in the financial services industry. I am the head of the real estate equity investment department for my firm with responsibility for billions of dollars of invested assets and management of a team of bright, highly competitive professionals. Critical reasoning and quantitative analysis (math) is an essential part of what we do. As important as quantitative analysis is, it is vastly more important, as a leader of professionals to instill confidence. I learned the importance of that, in part, from Bobby .

Sincerely,
Rob LoCascio

What follows is a letter of reference from a dad whose two daughters I tutored …

October 16, 2023

To whom it may concern

Robert Doueck tutored our two daughters ages 11 and 12 for just over one year in the subject of math. The girls had been educated in Montessori and were somewhat unfamiliar in classical math. Robert is an excellent math teacher. Additionally, he is adaptive in providing different teaching techniques and a degree of sociology in his methods.

Robert was punctual, courteous and energetic in working with the girls. The children, for the most part, enjoyed a subject that they were uncomfortable with and looked forward to their tutoring.

I would highly recommend Robert if you are in need of a math tutor.

Regards,
Robert Hildreth

Here is a reference from one of my student’s grandmothers…

This letter is my recommendation for Robert B. Doueck as a math tutor…

He has been tutoring my grandson for a while now and I can not be more pleased with his work. My grandson has been struggling with middle school math for a while and finding this tutor has been, quite honestly, a godsend.

Mr. Doueck is patient and has a way of putting a young person at ease. He is very knowledgeable and takes time to get to the core of the issue.

I highly recommend him.

Thank you.

I’m at your service

My job is to help each student become independent and reach his/her mathematical goals quickly and satisfactorily. Since elementary school, I’ve always had a flair for numbers. I started tutoring math in my senior year of undergraduate school. Although many of my students seemed to excel in other subjects, when it came to math, there was a struggle. Not always the case, but upon further examination, I often found that many of these bright, promising students, who certainly had potential, exhibited a very shaky math foundation. Oftentimes, it was simply a matter of memorizing flash cards. Once simple arithmetic was mastered, a calmness and a sense of confidence took over. We were on our way to success! The psychological blocks, phobia for numbers and disdain toward mathematical solutions disappeared. We were able to move on and conquer the matter(s) at hand; otherwise, it was business as usual (without the flash card drills). Math is FUNdamental!
