CHESTERTON QUOTE OF THE DAY: "The outer ring of Christianity is a rigid guard of ethical abnegations and professional priests; but inside that inhuman guard you will find the old human life dancing like children and drinking wine like men; for Christianity is the only frame for pagan freedom. But in the modern philosophy the case is opposite; it is its outer ring that is obviously artistic and emancipated; its despair is within.

As we celebrate America turning 250 years old, we wish to present to our Chesterton families and friends the beautiful prayer of America's first Catholic bishop, Archbishop John Carroll. Perhaps you can include this in your family's prayers:

The following prayer was composed by Baltimore Archbishop John Carroll in 1791.

We pray, O almighty and eternal God, who through Jesus Christ has revealed thy glory to all nations, to preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church, being spread through the whole world, may continue with unchanging faith in the confession of your name. Exciting news, Chesterton families and guests:

Our athletic program is officially underway and accepting student athletes from inside AND outside the Chesterton Academy! They can sign up HERE: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdVq97A_afY6ZVUKR_BC3YWVGozPoPDaZwaKY-iWw4YHkwfhw/viewform?usp=header
PLEASE FORWARD THIS AND SPREAD THE WORD!

We will be rolling out Cross Country and Tennis in August. Students grades 6 - 12 are encouraged to sign up to become a Crusader! (Involvement in grades 6-8 does not automatically enroll you or commit you to Chesterton, though we hope to earn your interest when the time comes... :)

For Cross Country:
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday practices from August - November, 3:50 - 5:15; 4 Saturday meets

For Tennis:
Tuesday and Friday training sessions in the Fall to equip the team for Spring Competitions

FYI: For athletes who participate with other school programs (Masters Academy / Vero High School etc) -- because we do not yet have a NHSAA designation -- the "one school rule" doesn't apply.

It is important for our young people, even in the athletic "arena," to be surrounded by the joyful, Christ-like, peace-filled influences of their peers who radiate Jesus Christ. If you want this for your son or daughter, consider joining. A special thank you to Mrs. Christina Poole for her assistance in this new initiative. Remember to sign up above!

During the Thursday of the last week of school we were blessed to be able to attend a Mass in which Bishop Manuel was celebrating and honoring the St. Helen graduates. After Mass, the bishop made time to visit with the faculty and students of Chesterton. We look forward to working with and alongside him in the future.

One of the joys of being at a Chesterton Academy is the opportunity to assist at Mass. Every Thursday this school year, our students served Mass and served as the choir. On this last Thursday of school, we honor our young ladies who did a great job providing beautiful hymns, 2-part motets, and chants each and every week. Great job, ladies! :)

A little late, but better than never! This year's inaugural classes of our Chesterton Academy of Vero Beach successfully performed Dale Ahlquist's "More Bodies, Please". We are so proud of our students (and a few guest students from middle school) who helped make this an amazing experience! Can't wait for all that is to come!
