We are incredibly grateful to the Indian River Community Foundation for their continued generous support of Literacy Services of Indian River County! π
In July, we were honored to once again receive a grant from IRCF to help further our mission of providing adults in our community with the English language and literacy skills they need to achieve their goals and build brighter futures. πβ¨
Ongoing support like this makes a meaningful difference in our ability to consistently provide learning opportunities, resources, and support to adults throughout Indian River County.
Thank you, Indian River Community Foundation, for continually investing in literacy, opportunity, and a stronger community. We are so grateful for your partnership and belief in our mission! π

Giving back is at the heart of building stronger communities. π
Recently, Literacy Services was proud to support the Bracelet Bash for Venezuela, a fundraiser to benefit victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela hosted by LPL Creations by Luisana. During the event, attendees crafted three beautiful bracelets together while helping raise funds to support those affected by the earthquakes. π€
Staff members Andreina and Elida, along with three of our board members, attended the event in support of this meaningful cause. Their participation reflects Literacy Services' commitment to compassion, service, and standing alongside those in needβboth here at home and around the world. π
Literacy Services is grateful to Luisana for bringing the community together in support of the people of Venezuela. Her dedication to philanthropy is a wonderful reminder of the many ways immigrants strengthen our communities and economy through leadership, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and service. Together, we can make a meaningful difference. β¨

This Fourth of July, we celebrate the freedoms and opportunities that make our country so specialβand the power of learning to open doors, build confidence, and strengthen our community. πΊπΈ
At Literacy Services of Indian River County, we're honored to support adult learners as they strengthen their English skills, prepare for the U.S. citizenship interview π, and take one of the most meaningful steps of their lives. Every new citizen's story is a reminder that the American dream is built through determination, perseverance, and hope.
As we celebrate this Independence Day, we also celebrate the individuals who choose to call this country home and the volunteers who help make that journey possible.
π
Please note that our offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the holiday. We will reopen during our regular business hours the following week.
From all of us at Literacy Services, we wish you a safe, joyful, and happy Independence Day! β€οΈπ€π

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team member, Yeimmy, our new Fellsmere Family Literacy Specialist!
Originally from Colombia, Yeimmy (pronounced Jamie) has lived in the United States for 10 years and now calls Vero Beach home. A mother of two, she is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in English and brings a lifelong passion for education, learning, and helping others achieve their goals.
"Education has been my passion since I was a teenager," Yeimmy shared. "I've always wanted to use my life to give something meaningful to others."
That passion has guided Yeimmy throughout her career and continues to inspire the work she does today.
For 12 years, Yeimmy worked in training and development in Colombia, helping people build skills and confidence, where she discovered and nurtured her passion for education. She currently serves as an Intake Specialist at Indian River State College, where she assists students with admissions and registration while encouraging them to continue their education and strengthen their English skills. And now, as our Fellsmere Family Literacy Specialist, she is excited to bring that same passion for education and service to families throughout the community.
"My main goal is connection," she said. "I want to find the best ways to connect with families and help them discover opportunities that can empower their lives."
Building those relationships is at the heart of what Yeimmy hopes to accomplish as she begins working with families in the Fellsmere community. She also hopes to spread awareness of the Family Literacy Program so more families can discover and benefit from the resources and support available to them.
"With this type of program, many people don't know about it," Yeimmy said. "I want to bring the program to more people. I didn't realize how amazing this program is until I started. There are so many tools for families and the community, and I want everyone to know about them."
For Yeimmy, helping families discover those opportunities is an important part of ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed.
When asked what message she'd like to share with families in the community, Yeimmyβs response was simple but powerful:
"There are no barriers. Many people don't complete their goals because they think there are too many barriers to move forward. But when you get the right help, you can do anything you want to achieve. I want families to know we can be the ones to help them move forward in their lives, and that they can dream and achieve all of their goals."
It's a message that reflects Yeimmy's belief that everyone deserves the opportunity, encouragement, and support to create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
That same caring spirit extends beyond her work too. When she's not working, Yeimmy loves spending time with her familyβespecially her grandson! As a brand-new grandmother, she says he brings so much joy to her life that every free moment is spent with him, soaking up this special new chapter.
Yeimmy wanted to emphasize that she is incredibly happy to be part of Literacy Services as a part-time consultant, and is grateful for the opportunity to serve families in the Fellsmere community.
Welcome to the team, Yeimmy! π
