We are so proud of the Poultry Pioneers and honored to have Elizabeth Knight represent Lamar County. From a year of conducting research with Dr. Brigid McCrea to presenting their projects at the Poultry Science Association Conference in Toronto, Ontario, Canada! This is a perfect example of how 4-H has opened doors and prepared these young ladies for a future in the poultry science industry and beyond.
Four Alabama 4-H'ers took their poultry knowledge and passion to the next level as the first group of the one-of-a-kind research program, 4-H Poultry Pioneers! 🍀🐣
Over the last year, these high school students have been hard at work conducting research to benefit small flock owners. Working in pairs, the duos used the labs at the Department of Poultry Science at Auburn University to take samples and gather data. The project culminated in Toronto, Canada, at the Poultry Science Association annual meeting where they each presented their research project to poultry scientists from around the world!
