NOW HIRING: BREWER / CELLAR PERSON (FULL-TIME) — VERNON BREWING
We're looking for a Brewer / Cellar Person to join our team full-time. This is a core production role in charge of all beer production and packaging.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Brewhouse
- Run brew days: mashing, lautering, boiling, knockout, and cleanup
- Follow recipes and brewing procedures precisely; help develop and refine
- Take and log readings — gravity, pH, temperature — and keep accurate brew records
- Work with owner on managing fermentation side
Cellar
- Own day-to-day cellar operations: fermentation monitoring, dry-hopping, transfers, carbonation, and yeast handling
- Manage tank schedules to hit packaging and release dates
- Crash and condition beer to spec
Packaging & facility
- Package finished beer, both in kegs and working with our mobile canning partners
- Have your CIP SOPs committed to second-nature – Clean and sanitize tanks, beer lines, kegs, and equipment to a high standard
- Receive and track raw materials (grain, hops, yeast, cans) and maintain inventory
- Keep a safe, organized, and spotless production area
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Prior professional brewing and cellar experience (assistant brewer, cellarman, or equivalent) is a must.
- Strong understanding of the brewing process, fermentation, sanitation, and beer styles
- Comfortable owning cellar work and managing tank/packaging schedules
- Comfortable with physical work: lifting up to 55 lbs repeatedly, standing for long shifts, working around hot liquids, hoses, and wet floors
- Mechanically inclined and confident with pumps, valves, fittings, glycol, and cleaning chemicals
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently as well as on a team
- Experience with canning lines, glycol systems, or small-batch production
- Familiarity with brewery cleaning chemicals and safe handling (PBW, acid, caustic, Star San)
