Hawthorn School District 73 Hawthorn District 73 is comprised of nine schools along with an early childhood center. There are 600 employees who oversee the students' education.

Hawthorn District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade school district where 3,500 students attend nine schools. The majority of District 73 students attend Vernon Hills High School with a few students attending Stevenson High School and Mundelein High School. What sets Hawthorn apart? This.

These photos were shared by a Hawthorn parent, and we think it says more about our schools than any statistic ever could. There are a lot of things we’re proud of as a district. We work hard to be responsible stewards of our community’s resources and provide an excellent education for every student. But at the heart of all of it are relationships. That’s Hawthorn. 🦅

Before welcoming students back, our bus drivers gathered at the Hawthorn District Office to kick off the new school year and participate in professional development focused on Hawthorn’s expectations and commitment to student safety.

As buses return to our roads this week, we’re asking our entire community to help us start the year safely and smoothly.

💙 Pack a little patience! The first few days of school are an adjustment for everyone as students, families, drivers and schools settle into their routines. Routes may run a little earlier or later than expected while everyone gets comfortable with stops and schedules.

🛑 Help keep our students safe! Slow down in school zones, stay alert for children walking near roadways and crosswalks, follow the direction of crossing guards, put phones away while driving, and always stop for school buses when required.

And to our transportation team: thank you for the work you've already put in to prepare for our students. We're excited to have you back on the road!
