Come and help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Women Poets Collective, a group of South Dakota women poets from Aberdeen, Mitchell, Brookings, McCook Lake, and Vermillion. The poets will give a free public reading and will be signing books. All are welcome.

Friends - I'm the faculty advisor for the Vermillion Literary Project (VLP), a student literary organization at the U of South Dakota. Please consider submitting poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and/or black & white artwork to this year's Red Coyote, the VLP's annual student-produced journal printed each April. NO FEE for submissions, which are open NOW until JANUARY 15 at

VLP's first LiTrash of the semester TONIGHT! The theme is fall/fallen/falling, 7 p.m. at the Varsity Pub. Featured reader is the amazing AVERY GUESS, followed by an OPEN MIC, open to anyone who wants to read their poetry, short story, short creative essay, or novel excerpt--on theme or not. Or just come to listen! Under 21 okay.
Vermillion writers! The Vermillion Community Writers Group will meet this Tuesday 7/23, 6 p.m. at the Verm Public Library. Come with original writing--poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, hybrid writing--you want to share, get feedback on your work in progress, or just come to listen in an encouraging, supportive group of writers. All levels of writing experience welcome. We meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
