Meet Desiree, a NOLOP Summer Research Scholar!

This summer she'll be working in Dr. Rezvani’s colon cancer research lab. She's always been fascinated by cancer biology, and while cancer isn’t fully curable yet, she wants to help develop treatments that are more effective and safer than those currently available. She was especially drawn to this lab because it focuses on colorectal cancer. Early-onset colorectal cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in patients under the age of 50 in the U.S., and what’s especially concerning is that it’s increasingly affecting people her age. Criminal Justice students, Brooklyn and Chasety, recently attended the Washington D.C. Faculty Led Program with our Department of Political Science.
