Meet Desiree, a NOLOP Summer Research Scholar!
This summer she'll be working in Dr. Rezvani’s colon cancer research lab. She's always been fascinated by cancer biology, and while cancer isn’t fully curable yet, she wants to help develop treatments that are more effective and safer than those currently available. She was especially drawn to this lab because it focuses on colorectal cancer. Early-onset colorectal cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in patients under the age of 50 in the U.S., and what’s especially concerning is that it’s increasingly affecting people her age. Check it out🔬🧬🧪🩺

Earlier this month, Dr. Tom Mrozla and a group of students from our Department of Political Science participated in the annual Washington D.C. Faculty Led Program. The program provides students the opportunity to connect with department alumni - where they get to see first-hand the careers they can pursue after graduation and learn about internships to get their foot in the door. It is important for students to figure out not only what they would like to do but also why they want to do it. This program helps them answer those questions!
