Today is Vergennes Day, stop by the pool for a refreshing dip! Tomorrow is the last day!

Today our Commodores took over Vergennes for the most EPIC scavenger hunt!
They traveled around the Little City completing challenges and learning a little more about what makes Vergennes such a special place. Along the way, they:

Found fellow Commodores
Found and touched the Commodore Thomas Macdonough Monument
Learned about the famous Vergennes grapes
Stopped at City Hall to meet City Manager Ron Redmond
Pretended to lick a giant ice cream cone
Visited the firehouse and tried on a fire hat
Made their mark on the deck of the Sam Fishman Memorial Pool
And tracked down the Mayor to get his signature on a pretend declaration that CAMP COMMODORE IS THE BEST!

Some of the best parts of the day weren’t even on the scavenger hunt list!

We happened to run into WCAX, who stopped to interview some of our counselors about the upcoming school year.
We found one of the best real life Commodores around, Mike Jackman!

And then came the biggest surprise of all… The Mayor was treating our Commodores to ice cream at the end of the day!

Calling All Water Aerobics Participants- join us for class this Thursday, and then stick around afterward for a little social time!No rushing off after class, stay awhile, visit with your fellow water aerobics attendees, enjoy some good company, music, conversation, and time together as we celebrate another great summer at the Sam Fishman Memorial Pool.

Our Commodores have been busy learning, exploring, working together, and having lots of fun along the way preparing to set sail! Yesterday, we learned about the parts of a boat, including port and starboard, and practiced how to use a compass. We also learned about North, South, East, and West…all very important things for a Commodore to know before setting sail! Did you know Lake Champlain flows North, these Commodores do! Today was Team Building Tuesday! We spent time learning about teamwork, communication, and working together. After all, when you’re part of a crew and sharing close quarters, you need to know how to work as a team! We also learned more about Lake Champlain and the legend of Champ. And wouldn’t you know it… Champ even made a visit to Camp Commodore!

We are all ready for Camp Commodore H2O…Reminder: We will set sail from The Commodore Club at 20 Armory Lane, and walk over to the pool for H2O activities and do an about face and walk back over to the Club for lunch, STEM activities and pick up! Tomorrow on the walk they will be learning North, South, East, & West! 🧭

A huge thank you to Commodore Acadia Clark, who captained a successful first week of Camp Commodore H2O: Becoming a Commodore! Led by Acadia and supported by several other fellow Commodores, more than 30 young people spent the week discovering what it means to be a Commodore here in Vergennes.
Each day they had hands on activities, STEM experiments, arts and crafts, water adventures, teamwork, and plenty of fun. Our campers learned that being a Commodore is about more than a name!

Acadia did a wonderful job taking the helm, creating a fun experience for our newest Commodores and I am incredibly thankful for her captaining this camp while I was away.

And now that we have a whole new crew of Commodores… it’s time to set sail!

Week 2 of Camp Commodore H2O begins Monday, and we can't wait to see where the adventure takes us!
