Venus Primary has been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through music and dance! Our first graders have been working hard to learn three dances: Chiapanecas, Los Machetes, and La Raspa.

For Chiapanecas, our girls are learning to dance with scarves, with some also playing castanets and tambourines. Our boys are practicing Los Machetes with rhythm sticks, and students are partnering up for La Raspa.

Their hard work and enthusiasm have made this a special part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration!

Congratulations to Betty Lopez, our October Staff Member of the Month!

A smiling face, an encouraging word, and a helping hand—you can count on Betty for all three! As a bilingual paraprofessional, she supports our students and teachers with patience, kindness, and an attitude that says, “We can do this!”

Betty often sees a need and steps in before anyone even asks. When someone does reach out, she is always ready with, “How can I help?” She brings joy to our campus and makes those around her feel supported and appreciated.

Betty lives out our Blue and Gold Standard through her initiative, dependability, and optimism. We are blessed to have her in our Venus Primary family. Thank you, Betty, for taking such good care of our students and each other!

Congratulations to Anna Hernandez, our Venus Primary Teacher of the Month!

Mrs. Hernandez brings purpose, energy, and joy to her first-grade classroom. She challenges her students, cheers them on, and helps them see what they are capable of accomplishing. From learning to read to tackling something new, her students have a teacher who believes in them and makes learning fun along the way.

Her encouragement reaches beyond her classroom, too. Anna shares ideas, supports her teammates, and brings smiles to those around her. She puts our Blue and Gold Standard into action through urgency, accountability, and optimism, making the most of each day and always looking for ways to help students grow.

We are blessed to have Mrs. Hernandez at Venus Primary! Thank you, Anna, for all you do for our students and our campus!

VPS needs your help! We are collecting candy for the upcoming Venus ISD Trunk or Treat later this month.

Ms. Backemeyer’s class finished last week in the lead and enjoyed a popsicle party! This week, Ms. Leonard’s first grade class is currently leading, but there are still two more school days to send in donations and help your child’s class win!

Each week, the class with the most candy donations earns a popsicle party. At the end of the candy drive, the class with the most donations overall will win the grand prize: a pizza party and extra recess!

Thank you for helping us make Trunk or Treat a fun night for our Venus Primary families!
