This is Epipremnum aureum ‘Pearls and Jade’—a plant that looks quite different depending on how it’s growing.

Here at Florida Gator Gardens, our goal is to have at least one mature specimen on the property of every aroid we plan to offer through our future nursery.

One of the things that fascinates us most about aroids is how dramatically they can change as they mature. Unfortunately, very few people ever get the opportunity to see what these plants truly look like as mature specimens. When grown indoors, most are kept in their juvenile or intermediate forms and rarely get the chance to reach their full potential.

We want to change that.

Our goal is to grow these plants to maturity right here on the property, allowing people to see what they are really capable of—and giving us the opportunity to learn from them before we ever offer them for sale.

I’ve got an unusual opportunity, and I’m hoping the right person sees this.

Most people know me because of reptiles. I’ve spent my life working with crocodilians, venomous reptiles, and other wildlife. Plants, however, are a much newer passion.

The incredible tropical plant collection here at Florida Gator Gardens was established by someone with far more botanical knowledge than I had. Over the past year, I’ve dedicated myself to learning how to properly grow and care for hundreds of these plants, even converting one of our old barns into a greenhouse so they could thrive through the winter.

The plants are doing great… but I’ve realized that identifying many of the aroids is a completely different skill.

So I’m looking for someone relatively local who has extensive knowledge of aroids—Philodendrons, Monsteras, Anthuriums, Syngoniums, and other tropicals—and who would enjoy spending some time helping identify what’s growing here.

In return, I’d love to share what I know. If you’re fascinated by reptiles, crocodilians, venomous species, or simply want a behind-the-scenes look at Florida Gator Gardens, I think we’d both walk away learning something new.

This isn’t about hiring someone. It’s about trading knowledge between two people who are passionate about what they do.

I have a feeling there are quite a few rare gems hiding among these hundreds of plants—I just need someone who speaks “aroid” better than I do.

If this sounds like you, or you know someone who would enjoy this kind of collaboration, send me a message or tag them in the comments.

There are hundreds of plants here, and I have a feeling some of them are pretty special. I just don’t know which ones yet. I’d love to change that.

How many people can say they’ve come face-to-face with North America’s largest venomous snake… and walked away with an unforgettable photo? 🐍

At Florida Gator Gardens, we’re more than just a hands-on reptile experience—we’re proud to serve as an amnesty facility for law enforcement agencies and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. We also work closely with Highlands County Animal Control to ensure that venomous snakes they respond to are not euthanized. Instead, they’re brought to our facility until they can be donated to a venom research laboratory, where they help produce lifesaving antivenom while living out their lives in professional care.

If one of these incredible reptiles is staying with us during your visit, you may have the rare opportunity to experience our Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake Encounter.

Standing just feet away, separated by a safe natural barrier, you’ll observe one of nature’s most impressive predators in its natural setting while learning about its vital role in the ecosystem. You’ll even have the chance to capture a one-of-a-kind photograph that very few people will ever experience.

Every encounter is conducted with safety as the highest priority while fostering respect, education, and appreciation for these often misunderstood animals.

🐍 The Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake is the largest venomous snake in North America.

This isn’t a staged exhibit. It’s a rare opportunity that depends entirely on whether we currently have a rattlesnake in our care awaiting transport to a venom laboratory.

Adventure. Education. Conservation.

There are moments that make your heart race… and then there are moments where you’re standing just a few feet from an 11-foot American alligator.

This is exactly what Eric, Nicole, Lauren, and Brittany experienced with GOTHAM.

People often ask if they’re really that close. They are.

What they don’t always notice is that every second of the encounter is carefully managed. Greg is always positioned between our guests and GOTHAM, reading the alligator’s behavior, directing every movement, and ensuring each interaction is conducted with safety as the highest priority.

Greg’s respect for these animals comes from experience. Years ago, he lost his hand in an alligator accident to GOTHAM. That life-changing event didn’t diminish his passion—it reinforced the importance of understanding these incredible predators and never becoming complacent around them. That knowledge and respect are the foundation of every encounter we offer.

This isn’t about taking unnecessary risks. It’s about experiencing one of North America’s most powerful predators in a way that few people ever will—close enough to feel the excitement, ask questions, and leave with a deeper appreciation for these amazing animals.

Most people will only ever see an alligator from behind a fence.

Will you be one of the few who steps into Gotham’s world?
