Why I Became a Ganjier: Lucas Huemer - Elevating Palates

A 2022 graduate of the Ganjier Certification program, Lucas is the private chef for the Austrian ambassador in Berlin, Germany. He also runs his own business curating cannabis events.

With numerous parallels in relation to the gustatory appreciation of flavor, aroma, quality and more between the culinary and cannabis realms, it makes perfect sense.

In fact, we've had quite a few chefs and culinary professionals across the spectrum from wine and beer to cheese and chocolate, as well as formulators of cannabis edibles successfully complete the Ganjier Certification program.

Cultivation Conversation: Farm Cut

During a Ganjier live training soujourn to Humboldt's Fallen Oak Farm last October, students were treated to a verdant, vibrant and varied garden in all of its pre-harvest splendor and introduced to one of grower Jesse Hill's favorite cultivars - the fragrant, potent, and deep purple Pineapple Dragon.

The occasion also provided a rare confluence of local cultivators, including Johnny Casali of Huckleberry Hill Farms, Nikka T, Swami Select, and Derek Gilman, who held a candid, colorful conversation, evaluating the viability and yield of the plant's potential as either a washer (for rosin production) or as flower, along with market trends, extraction techniques (including static dry sift, leveraging electrostatics to separate trichome heads from plant material) and other innovations on the horizon.

Drop in on the conversation here at the Ganjier YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/AbLOU32D4UM

It's this level of unfettered access to top minds (and gardens) in the field that sets the Ganjier program apart.

As we gear up for another remarkable season of immersion, discovery and adventure in the Emerald Triangle, you're invited to join us by visiting Ganjier.com

Ganjier Deep Cut: Kevin Jodrey ~ Why Your Cannabis Doesn't Smell Like the Terpene Report.

"I'm fascinated with genetics and what makes something desirable."

Wonderland Nursery Founder and Ganjier Course Creator/Instructor Kevin Jodrey (who teaches the in-person aroma assessment portion of the Ganjier program, exploring how terpenes, esters, keytones, flavonoids and other factors contibute to cannabis quality) dives deep into cannabis terpene profiles and comparisons between similar terpene profiles that produce wildly different smell and tastes during this archival video classic.

Focusing specifically on cultivar populations from the 1980's and 90's, Kevin discusses how plant esters and other elements contribute to the cannabinoid and terpene profiles to produce what we perceive by nose and taste.

Additionally, Kevin explores how genetic traits make specific cannabis cultivars desirable and what that portends for future breeding, consumer, and market directions.

What Happens When a Cannabis Company Actually Invests In Its People:

It’s easy for a cannabis company to say it’s different. It’s a lot harder to prove it.

iAnthus, one of the leading multi-state operators in the U.S., made a decision that most companies talk about but few actually make — investing seriously in the people behind the plant.

When they brought the Ganjier Product Specialist program into the company, it wasn’t a one-off training initiative or a box to check. It was a deliberate investment in building a company culture where cannabis and flower knowledge is foundational — from the grow floor all the way to the dispensary counter.

We sat down with iAnthus CEO Richie Proud to talk about how they’ve implemented the program, what’s changed inside the company, and what it really looks like when a leading cannabis operator puts real resources behind developing its people.

The number and diversity of extraordinary women attending and graduating the Ganjier Program continues to increase season after season... and we can’t wait to see where they’ll go next!

Can Sommelier Training Boost Cannabis Retail Sales?

"Buying cannabis isn’t about finding the best deal or the highest THC. It’s about a conversation at the counter that customers can trust."

Sallie Blackmon at MJBiz Daily explores the Ganjier Certification Program:

"Cannabis sommeliers standardize how cannabis quality, aroma and terpene expression are evaluated. This provides cannabis retail staff with a shared language for explaining products across brands. Budtenders are prepared to give customers answers, and customers get them consistently."
