How much unstructured play do young children need?
At least 1 hour a day for toddlers, and even more free play is great for preschoolers. Unstructured play helps children build creativity, problem-solving, language, social skills, and confidence — all while having fun.
Blocks, pretend play, outdoor exploration, sand and water play, and loose parts are all wonderful examples.
Let them lead, explore, and imagine. That’s where so much learning happens.

At The Little Tree Preschool, we know parenting toddlers and preschoolers can be a beautiful challenge. 💛 That’s why we partner with families to support routines, emotional growth, independence, and positive behavior every step of the way.
At school, we help children practice:
• Clear routines
• Gentle, consistent boundaries
• Emotional language and self-regulation
• Independence and confidence
• Learning through play, connection, and care
And we support parents too — because when home and school work together, children thrive. 🌱
