🥳 our sponsored bill — The True Cost of Care Act — just passed the Assembly! With our first major hurdle cleared, it now heads to the Senate. It’s up to us to keep ensuring lawmakers understand the importance of passing AB 1981.

Thank you Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry for authoring AB 1981 and to all of the Assemblymembers who stood with child care providers by voting YES.

🌡️ Food Safety Fact of the Week 🌡️

FACT: Even a 2°F error on a food thermometer can mean the difference between safe food and a food safety risk.

Thermometers are one of your most important kitchen tools—but only if they’re accurate.

🔬 Here's the science: Bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli grow fast when food isn't cooked to the right temperature. A misreading can lead to undercooked meals—and unsafe food.

That’s why regular calibration matters.
✅ Calibrate thermometers often using the calibration button if available, or the ice water or boiling water method
✅ Clean and dry thermometers before storing
✅ Check thermometers if they’re dropped or moved between prep areas
