Fall Class Description:
Experience the production process by creating and completing your own media project. This project may be a live-action short, a stop-motion animation short, a storybook short, or something else for the platform of your choice. Projects will be 1 to 2 minutes in length. Bring an existing project to transform, or create and develop something new in class. We will cover fundamentals of production, starting with storytelling basics, character development and discussion of the technical tools you'll need to bring your concept to life. Next, we will expand those ideas with media choices and script creation. We'll explore pre-production aspects like storyboarding, shot lists and acting tips. Then you'll film your stories and move to post-production, learning and using editing techniques like transitions, sound cues and sound effects to polish the raw footage into videos ready for viewing or posting. We will meet virtually on Zoom, and use the equipment you have on hand; smart phone, iPad, laptop, etc.

Summer Fun
This summer we offer private tutorials for individual students to explore the platform of their choice: some choose YouTube (developing their own channel by learning the basics of recording and editing episodes), some choose stop-motion animation, and others to develop live-action short films. We create projects to fit available class time (a 2 to 3-week session, for example) and customize teaching to the desired project platform.
Meeting in small class groups (maybe 2-3 to a class) for direct study on a desired platform is also available. A group project enjoys the benefits of a small group dynamic while focusing on a particular platform or objective.
Options include:
1) Small groups - grab some friends and take a class/explore a project! 6-class ($250/student) options or 8-class ($325/student) options available. We will meet either twice or 3 times per week.
2) Solo Study - focus on developing your skills with a specific project. 6-class ($360) or 8-class ($480) sessions available.
