History made — and we couldn't have done it without this community.
For the first time ever, the VC Foundation has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to Ventura College students. That number represents 537 scholarship awards, 393 students served, and 1,287 applicants from 60 different majors. This year we also saw a 19% increase in students applying and a remarkable 166% increase in community volunteers stepping up to read scholarship applications — a true testament to how much this community cares.
None of this happens without donors who believe that every student deserves a chance to succeed. If you have ever given to the VC Foundation, this is your milestone too. Thank you for making history with us. 🧡

Meet Christopher Santamaria — Ventura College alumnus, scholarship recipient, and biomedical engineering student with big dreams and an even bigger heart. 🎓
Christopher says it best: "Your generosity has not only lifted a financial burden but also inspired me to keep pushing forward. One day, I hope to pay it forward by supporting students just like me."

Anne's unwavering dedication to the Ventura College Foundation and her commitment to empowering students and uplifting our community make this recognition so well deserved. She shows up every single day with passion, purpose, and heart, and we are incredibly grateful to have her leading the way.
We also want to extend our warmest congratulations to all of the other Top Women in Business honorees. The tremendous work each of you does makes our region a better place, and your leadership and vision are a true inspiration to all of us.

Some people dedicate a chapter of their life to education. Dr. Ruth Hemming dedicated her whole story.
Over the course of a remarkable career with the Ventura County Community College District, Dr. Hemming served as an English and journalism instructor, dean, vice-president, and Interim President across Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura colleges — touching virtually every corner of the institution she loved.
But for Dr. Hemming, retirement was never the end of the story. After stepping away from her administrative career, she joined the Ventura College Foundation Board of Directors, where she served with distinction for 17 years. Today, she holds the honored title of Board Emeritus — a recognition that only begins to capture the depth of her impact.
We are endlessly grateful for Dr. Hemming's lifetime of service, leadership, and love for this community. Her story reminds us that the most meaningful legacies aren't built in a single role — they're built through decades of showing up, giving back, and never stopping.
