Birth support for expectant parents - prenatal appointments and postpartum..

Photos from Flora Birth Support's post 02/17/2022

Yesterday we celebrated my youngest’s 2nd birthday and the anniversary of our family centered home birth. Forever grateful for our 2020 baby and the gift of birthing at home with my loves present. 💛

One of my favorite cards, made by , to hand out at postpartum visits. Such a good reminder for that first year and beyond! Keep them close. 🖤

Swelly, stormy clouds and wind combined with a full moon, bringing in new babies into this world this weekend. Welcome to the spinning world little ones. You bring the light after the storm. 🌈

Patiently waiting for my camellias to bloom. Trusting in their timing and I know it’ll be beautiful when they finally do! I know it’s hard to wait when there’s so much pressure from providers to induce your labor. Of course, you want to meet baby! And your provider may be giving you some reasons that are starting to make you anxious AF! However, baby is doing important work doing all that growing in the womb. They will come when it’s time. Trust in the process. Be brave and curious. Ask for a reason for your induction. Ask for evidence based information. Ask what will happen if you wait. Check in with yourself and baby. This is one of the biggest challenges I see birthers face as they approach their “due date”. There are definitely reasons to induce, most likely, it’s not needed. 🙃

What are reasons you’ve heard for induction?

Induction series coming soon! 🌈 Let’s be educated 🤓 on the birth process and interventions thrown your way!

Your doula loves you!💛

Thankful to get a little break from supporting an amazing mama, navigating an induction, to snuggle and nurse my baby. Grounding moment for me and adds a bit more needed oxytocin. 💛

On my way home from the hospital yesterday. Had to stop to capture this beautiful sunset. Sound on to catch the birdsong. 🌅 🐦💛

Some good positioning tips from elf on the shelf 😉

Let the elf on the shelf, or... should we say the elf with the ball, 😅 give you some tips for the use of a birth ball and some good positions in labor.
You're welcome... Merry Birthing 😉❤🎄

2022 is going to be so fun! Excited to be teaming up with these two beautiful people. As a team, we’ll be supporting new families in Ventura. Bringing in our unique expertise and qualities and offering some fun opportunies for birthing people in our community to feel confident and supported as they step into this powerful, transformative time!

One immediate offering is our weekly Perinatal Group, starting this Wednesday at Grow Midwifery. If your pregnant or have a baby under 6 months, please join us! We’d love to sit with you!

Today, I had the privilege of sitting in circle with some amazing women. Some pregnant and some postpartum. We were gifted with hearing powerful, strong, challenging and healing birth stories. Those preparing for their own birth journeys shared their hopes and fears. We held space for them, showing support and care. The vulnerable and brave sharing brought me back to the labyrinth image. When you start the path of the labyrinth, you know there is an end, but surprised by the turns it takes your down. Surrender. Trust you will get to where you need to go when you need. No need to rush. You will get there. The twists and turns will carry you through. 🌀

Hi all 👋🏽 It’s been a minute! Life is full at the moment (what a gift!). I’m 18 months postpartum, my eldest just turned 5, and I’m figuring out the best way to balance the multiple roles I carry - mom, wife, student, birthworker, community member and friend. After a busy spring of birth support I’m in the middle of a summer break to allow myself to work through a childbirth educator’s course, play at the beach with my kids and support my daughter Alma’s transition into kindergarten. I’ll be back supporting families in October. 🍂

I have a few things cooking up. If you’d like to join my email list, comment below or send me a message so I can add you! I’m going to try to send out quarterly updates to keep you all posted on what I’m up to and things to be aware of in the community! 💛
