The final 15rounds between Larry Holmes and Ken Norton Heavyweight Championship fight will be forever remembered as one of the monumental in boxing history after fiercely fought and high intensity classic contest Larry Holmes emerged as new WBC Heavyweight boxing Champion.
After his slugfest with Muhammad Ali I love that man and didn't want to see him getting hurt Larry Holmes commented on that 2nd October 1980 at Las Vegas Nevada was the saddest day of his life when forced a tragically over hill Muhammad Ali to retired at end of ten rounds in an Heavyweight Championship fight.
I feel Larry Holmes during his prime days didn't fight a lot of talented contenders.
Larry Holmes would of had a better legacy if he fought the following formidable fighters such as Mike Dokes, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tucker, Gerrie Coetzee, Tony Tubbs and Greg Page.
Tim Witherspoon supposed had rematch.
Legendary gladiators Joe Louis , Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali and Lennox Lewis all fought most contenders from their era.
