Venice Sailing Squadron The Venice Sailing Squadron organizes races, cruises and bountiful monthly potluck dinners followed by informative programs related to sailing.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in sailing, sailboats and boating in general. A comic once said, "If the sea calls, hang up! In 1973, a group of Venice area sailors didn't hang up - they organized the Venice Sailing Squadron (VSS) to promote sailing, seamanship, and navigation. Today, with nearly 90 memberships, the Venice Sailing Squadron is among one of the most active sailing organizations in the Southwest Florida area.

The first of our weekly buoy races took place on October 3rd with 3 boats competing. The racers started off with a nice SSE breeze to 12 knots then softening to 6 knots.
Reagan- e took 1st place, followed by Krakken with Joy II finishing third.

Not all of our racers and crew are back for the season and we are sure participation will pick for future races .

Happy Racing ! ⛵️⛵️⛵️

Happy Birthday America and Happy July 4th . 💥🇺🇸🇺🇸

I hope all our sailing friends near and afar are enjoying their summer and holiday.

We had at least 2 boats from the squadron on the water enjoying the fireworks display last evening off the Venice Jetty .
The weather was perfect (yes, humid, light breeze) but a gorgeous evening and a stellar sunset .

The sailboat in front of us had lights on his rigging which helped provide these breathtaking photos !

Many thanks to Peter and Renee for inviting us - for another memorable evening on the water!

See everyone in October ⛵️⛵️⛵️
