Teacher Feature! 🐊💚
Each week we would like to feature one of our amazing educators so you can learn a little more about our awesome staff! This week we are featuring Mrs. Tara Davies, our 2025/26 Literacy Teacher of the Year, who strives to share her love of reading with her students. Mrs. Davies is fun, funny, and creative! Read below to see why Mrs. Davies makes our school so great! 💚🐊

Mrs. Davies has been teaching for 13 years. She has had the pleasure of teaching kindergarten, first grade, and second grade, but has spent the last 10 years in first grade…which is her absolute favorite!

Mrs. Davies and her husband, Mr. Davies, have two amazing kids, Harper who just started middle school, and Noah who is in third grade. Anybody who knows Mrs. Davies knows that her favorite things are floating in the pool with a good book, spending time with family and friends, taking a good nap, and watching funny movies.

There are so many things Mrs. Davies loves about teaching! Her top three favorite things are making learning fun and memorable for her students, building a kind class family where all students feel loved, and building strong readers who love books as much as she does!

Teacher Feature!
Each week we will feature one of our amazing teachers in an effort for parents and students to learn more about them! This week we are featuring Mrs. Sountis, who found teaching as a second career. Mrs. Sountis puts a ton of love into her classroom and her students shine because of it. Mrs. Sountis is definitely one of the reasons why it’s so great to be a Garden Gator! 💚🐊

Meet Mrs. Sountis!

We are so excited to welcome Mrs. Sountis into her sixth year at Garden Elementary! Her journey began as a teacher’s assistant, where she quickly discovered her passion for teaching and knew she had found her calling. Inspired by her love for her students and the classroom, she went on to earn her teaching certification.

Mrs. Sountis spent two wonderful years teaching first grade, and this year, she is thrilled to begin a new adventure as a kindergarten teacher!

Originally born and raised in New York City, Mrs. Sountis moved to Florida in 2021. She is excited to continue making a difference in the lives of young learners and creating a warm, joyful classroom where her kindergarteners can learn, grow, and thrive.

We are so lucky to have this fabulous teacher at Garden Elementary!

Please be mindful of your speed in our school zones. We have a school zone on Center Road and one on Shamrock Blvd. Please help us keep our kids and families safe. 💚

The first week of school zone traffic enforcement concluded on Friday, and we want to thank all the parents and other commuters for their heightened awareness and care in our school zones. Your efforts have made a noticeable difference in keeping our children safe as they return to class.

Let's continue to stay vigilant, follow posted speed limits, and watch out for pedestrians and crossing guards. Together, we can make our school zones safer for everyone.
