- Only three female golfers have appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Can you name them?

Golf legend Nancy Lopez has appeared on the cover four times! Most famously during her breakthrough rookie season on July 10, 1978.

The 1978 Cover: The July 10, 1978 issue captured Lopez during a historic 1978 campaign where she won nine LPGA tournaments—including a record five consecutive victories—earning LPGA Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, and Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year.

At Nancy Lopez Golf Adventures we teach people to Play Happy!

“Play Happy!” is more than just a saying—it’s a way of approaching golf and life. It’s about embracing the joy of the game, celebrating the good shots, learning from the bad ones, and never allowing your score to define your happiness.

For Nancy Lopez Play Happy! means playing with a smile, maintaining a positive attitude, believing in yourself, and remembering why you fell in love with golf in the first place.

It's about enjoying the journey, appreciating the friendships, and understanding that golf is a game to be enjoyed, not endured.

Because at the end of the day, the greatest victory isn't the score on your card—it's the smile on your face and the memories you make along the way.

Play Happy! It's not just how Nancy plays golf. It's how she lives life.

Like if you agree!

- thank you Joyce Mullenbach for the kind words. You are an inspiration to all of us!

“Discovering Nancy Lopez Golf Adventures (NLGA) was one of the most wonderful gifts I could have ever given to myself. Initially I was attracted to the golf trips because they offered safe, organized golf adventures at beautiful venues with other like-minded participants. And they also offered an opportunity to meet one of my all-time favorite professional golfers, LPGA legend Nancy Lopez.

What I found exceeded all my expectations and kept me coming back for more. Upon arrival and throughout the golf trips, everyone experiences the special feeling of being welcomed as members of Nancy Lopez’s personal extended golf family. Nancy’s uplifting “Play Happy” philosophy and life lessons permeate the entire experience.

The trips are always fun. And I learn a lot. I’ve also made several life-long friends from these adventures.

Because of NLGA I’m a better golfer and person; and I enjoy the game of golf more than ever.”

Putting: Where the Game Is Won…One Stroke at a Time

Nancy Lopez was known throughout her Hall of Fame career as a tremendous putter. One of the most interesting parts of her putting story was her loyalty to her Ray Cook M1 mallet putter, which she used for approximately 20 years.

Why stick with one putter for so long?

Because it worked for her!
