I want to say a huge thank you to all of our VHS music booster parents for their volunteering throughout the day yesterday. Another successful football Friday even though a little strange.
The students did an outstanding job of being flexible. We had to keep them in an extended warm-up due to the football team from the other school being late. The students responded well despite having to just sit there for a little bit before we were allowed to march out. Then, the officials made the call to only let halftime be five minutes. Dr. Raney the APA came over and I made the decision to move our show to post game so we would not feel rushed. We also wanted to give the dance team fair time to do their performance. The students were once again very understanding. We had them stop playing in the stands for a little bit to save their insurance as they had just played pretty passionately for about two full quarters. We want to conserve their musical energy for the post game show. The kids had some fun in the stands. The newly formed VHS hype club, that is our student section area, gave the band thunderous applause after pregame. The school spirit at VHS right now is unmatched. It was nice to see our kids getting the recognition they deserve from their peers.
I want to give a huge shout out to Mr. Kohan, our Director of the Marching Indians for his incredible work and teaching our students how to be a strong and successful marching band! The kids are working at an incredible pace and you saw that on display last night. The amount of hours Mr. K puts into this band should not go unnoticed by our VHS band family. Thank you to all of our band staff for their time and contributions to our students success as well.
Enjoy your weekend! Students have their instruments at home and have practice assignments to complete for every class and marching band. You should hear the sounds of instrument making music this weekend. Take care. Proud to be a VHS band member.
