Crisis Services connects individuals whose health or safety is at risk because of a mental health or substance use condition with the most appropriate support. Trained crisis staff assess and provide referrals for in-person or virtual care or may dispatch a crisis team to provide onsite support.

A thought-provoking piece from VYFS Board Member and Children and Youth Advisory Board member, Carol Goertzel, on an important question: When we say something is “too easy,” too easy for whom? Worth a read and reflection.

Some have suggested that King County Best Starts for Kids grants are too easy to obtain, which overlooks the bureaucratic burden the process already places on small nonprofits, which is only getting worse with new stipulations.

Adventures with Movies & Emotions is back!

This time we're watching What's Eating Gilbert Grape; a thoughtful, character-driven film about family, caregiving, growing up, and trying to figure out who you are while carrying a lot on your shoulders.

After the movie, you're invited to stick around for a relaxed conversation led by VYFS counselors.

Recommended for: Adults and older teens (16+) due to mature themes.

Content Advisory: The film includes themes of caregiving, developmental disabilities, family stress, grief, depression, death, infidelity, and emotional hardship. There is some strong language and scenes that may be emotional for some viewers.

Come watch a great movie, connect with others, and spend an evening exploring the emotions and stories that stay with us long after the credits roll.
