Grand Master Caruso, Mrs Caruso, and the entire staff at ATA Murrysville, ATA Greensburg, ATA Vandergrift, and ATA Solon would like to express their deep sorrow over the loss of Master Jim Dreskler, Mrs. Caruso’s brother, who passed away Monday.
Master D was known for his contagious energy on and off the mats and his overwhelming passion for teaching. He was a natural leader, who cared for all of his students, and wanted to see each and every one of them succeed. He never gave up. He always pushed people to believe in themselves, and he felt achieving the rank of Blackbelt in the ATA was a momentous goal, and that helping people attain this goal was a tremendous privilege.
Master Dreskler was known for his passionate support of ATA tournaments, and was a staple at every regional and District tournament without fail. He was known for his enthusiasm, knowledge, passion, charisma, and for judging the very first rings of the day to the very last, often with few breaks and always with the greatest enthusiasm and Songahm spirit. His energy seemed limitless; he was a favorite of competitors and their families, as well as his fellow judges.
Grand Master and Mrs Caruso were honored to present Master Dreskler with his Seventh Degree Certificate on Thursday, August 19th, and had the privilege of placing his stars on his collar themselves. It was a fitting presentation to a dedicated warrior and fighter, who will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Rest in peace sir.
