The Vandalia-Butler Band Department: performing with all of our bands and guards indoors and out!
The Vandalia-Butler Band Department consists of instrumental ensembles performing in concerts, sporting events, and parades around the community in grades 6-12. These ensembles include the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Aviators, Pep Band, the Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard, and our 3 grades of Morton musicians.

This Wednesday, March 18th, at 7:00pm our Butler and Morton Winter Guards invite you to join them in the Butler SAC for a community night performance as our Morton Guard ends their season and the Butler Guard prepares for Championships!
This is completely free and all are welcome to join!

Our last group who has been working hard is the Butler Indoor Percussion Ensemble and their show “Mending”.
They have competed 3 times now, earning 3rd at Butler and Troy! They have two competitions coming up with Hamilton next weekend and Championships the last weekend of March!

Our next group that has been working hard this winter season is our Butler Winter Guard and their show “London has Fallen”!
They have had plenty of success this season earning 5th at Northmont, Trent Arena, Butler, Springboro, and 4th at Centerville! They have two more competitions coming up: Hamilton and MEPA Championships! We hope to see you there!

Our Butler Bands have been very busy over the last few weeks! We had our Winter Concert with our Butler Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble also joined by our Morton 8th Garden Band!
Then yesterday, our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble attended OMEA Large Group Contest, earning excellent (II) ratings for both performances! This is an exciting new era for our Butler Bands as this was the first time they attended contest since 2019!
We are now off into audition season for next year as well as our exciting pops concert music for our performance in May!

The next group we’d like to update you on is our BRAND NEW Morton Junior High Winter Guard!
This group for 6-8 grade students interested in guard is in its first year and they just had their first competiton at Butler High School a few weekends ago!
They have one more competition this weekend at Centerville alongside our Butler Winter Guard! They have been doing a fantastic job and we’re so excited to see this new level of Winter Guard start here at VBCSD!
