Dear OGS / ORPALTC Membership,
In the midst of the current crisis regarding spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, we recognize that clinicians caring for older adults may feel overwhelmed by the many varied sources of information and alerts. We understand that COVID-19 infection disproportionately impacts older adults, particularly those with medical comorbidities.
The leadership of OGS and ORPALTC (Oregon Society for Post Acute and Long Term Care) have aligned on a few key resources for up to date and accurate information, as this crisis unfolds. We want to share these resources with each of our societies’ memberships.
As a leadership team, we find these resources most valuable:
- AGS Blog (membership required) - https://myagsonline.americangeriatrics.org/home
- AMDA Blog (membership required) – https://paltc.org
- OHA- https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/DISEASESCONDITIONS/DISEASESAZ/Pages/emerging-respiratory-infections.aspx
- CDC Coronavirus page - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/summary.html
Additionally, we have outreached to the Oregon Health Authority to offer our assistance as subject matter experts caring for older adults in both community and long-term care settings.
We are emailing you (our members), and also updating this information on social media via the OGS page.
Thank you all for taking care of our older adult population.
Sincerely,
OGS / ORPALTC Leadership Team
