Today, we celebrate Freedom Day, marking the anniversary of the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the United States finally learned they were free.

Today is a great opportunity to take time to learn, reflect, and celebrate with your families. Looking for ways to commemorate the day at home? Congratulations on reaching this important milestone — you did it! You’ve worked hard, learned a lot, and grown in ways that will carry you into high school and beyond. Be proud of your achievements, big and small, and remember the friends, teachers, and memories that helped you along the way.

As you move forward, stay curious, try new things, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes — they’re how you learn. Be kind to others and to yourself, and keep asking questions. High school will bring new challenges and opportunities; face them with confidence and the same determination that brought you here.

Thank you for your incredible support this year. Because of parents, volunteers, local businesses, and generous donors, our PTO raised $9,607.31 and contributed $5,583.56 to support events, teacher and staff programs, student activities, and school needs.

A special thanks to our restaurant partners and every volunteer who donated hours, skills, and money — you made a real difference for our students. We’re grateful for your continued partnership and look forward to another great year together.

Just a reminder that FVRLibraries is now open on Sundays until 6 pm at Battle Ground, Cascade Park, Stevenson, Three Creeks, Vancouver, Vancouver Mall, White Salmon Valley, Yacolt, and Yale Valley Community Libraries. All locations have air conditioning, water fountains, computers, Wi-Fi, and plenty of reading material!

🚐A message from our friends at C-Tran:
"During extreme heat, C-TRAN will not turn anyone away who is riding to a cooling center. Passengers should tell the operator as they board that they’re heading to a cooling center, and fares will not be enforced. We also encourage anyone to plan ahead and stay hydrated if they expect to be out traveling. All C-TRAN buses also have air conditioning."
