In honor of National Sasquatch Awareness Day, the Activities Programming Board (APB) would like to invite students to stuff their own mascot of the PNW to take home with them. We will be hosting this event on October 13 from 11:00am -12:30pm in the Hanna Hall Lobby.

Students will stuff their very own large sasquatch plushie, in addition, one free drink from the coffee lounge while supplies last.

September 17 is designated as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787. Learn more about the U.S. Constitution through public programs, family activities, and online resources.

Sept. 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. Obviously much can--and has--and will--be said about the racism embodied in the Constitution and our historically problematic definition of "citizenship", but below I simply provide the text from nationaldaycalendar.com:
"Constitution Day and Citizenship Day on September 17th commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of the United States and those who have become United States citizens. On this day, members of the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787.

CONSTITUTION DAY HISTORY
This holiday dates all the way back to 1911 when schools in Iowa first recognized Constitution Day. Then in 1917, the society known as the Sons of the American Revolution formed a committee to promote Constitution Day. Members of that committee included Calvin Coolidge, John D. Rockefeller, and General John Pershing.

In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared “I am an American Day,” and Congress designated the third Sunday in May to celebrate it. By 1949, the governors of all 48 states had issued Constitution Day proclamations. On February 29, 1952, Congress changed the name from “I am an American Day” to “Citizenship Day” and moved its observation to September 17. In 2004, the day was renamed Constitution Day and Citizenship Day."

Congratulations, Camille!!! We are so proud of your and all that you have accomplished and given to the students of Clark this year as an Activities Programming Board student leader.

Camille Villanueva is the 2026 Presidential Scholarship Winner!🏆

This award is given to a high-achieving student who has completed their studies at Clark College and is transferring to a four-year institution. The recipient is awarded the equivalent of two years of in-state tuition of $15,000 to complete their bachelor’s degree. This year’s Presidential Award scholarship is generously funded by the Clark College Foundation

Camille's Story:

When Camille moved from the Philippines to the United States, she did so at the encouragement of her grandfather, a member of Clark’s facilities team. He wanted his granddaughter to have a future where anything is possible. It was also her grandfather who first suggested electrical engineering after she showed a talent for math.

At Clark, Camille navigated the challenges of learning in her second language while entering a field where women are often underrepresented. In one of her computer science classes, she was the only woman, and she worried she would be underestimated. But her confidence grew as she excelled academically, earning the highest score in her class on her midterm exam. Through MESA, she connected with other women in STEM and found inspiration to become an advocate for future generations. Outside the classroom, Camille served as an Activities Programming Board events coordinator and volunteered at the Penguin Pantry.

She said in her application: “My interest in power started in junior high school when I made a lamp using recycled bottles, a battery, and a bulb. Since then, I’ve wanted to learn more about how things work and how I can make life easier for people.”

Inspired by her grandfather, who is hard of hearing, Camille hopes to use engineering to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Tonight, she graduates with an AS in Electrical Engineering and will continue her studies at WSU–Vancouver.
