SLES uses the Barton Reading & Spelling System for reading intervention. Barton is the only O-G system that takes a student to a mid-ninth grade reading level when completing the entire program. The other reputable systems only go to 7th grade.

From helping with homework, advocating for accommodations and services, meeting with teachers to help your child's instructors understand your child's dyslexia, to encouraging your precious child to recognize and grow in their areas of strength. Parents at SLES, Download or print out this accommodation list and ask for them at the student services office as your young adult is applying for their choice college or university.

Some provide more than the bare minimum.

This is my story, and the story of so many other advocates and tutors of dyslexic students. It wasn't until we stepped outside our university systems that we began learning about the research information on dyslexia and how to assess and teach these individuals. After spending additional years and thousands of dollars to learn what we could/should have been taught during our earliest teacher training courses, we are reaching these students.
