SLES uses the Barton Reading & Spelling System for reading intervention. Barton is the only O-G system that takes a student to a mid-ninth grade reading level when completing the entire program. The other reputable systems only go to 7th grade.

Had a fun time today at the local artist/craft show sharing our Reading Is Fun! books. Made some great connections too! Our newly released book is now available at www.rifbooks.com!
Albert Einstein once wrote on a chalkboard:
9 x 1 = 9
9 x 2 = 18
9 x 3 = 27
9 x 4 = 36
9 x 5 = 45
9 x 6 = 54
9 x 7 = 63
9 x 8 = 72
9 x 9 = 81
9 x 10 = 91
Suddenly chaos erupted in the classroom because Einstein made a mistake. Obviously, the correct answer to 9 × 10 isn’t 91. And all his students ridiculed him.
Einstein waited for everyone to be silent and said:
“Despite the fact that I analyzed nine problems correctly, no one congratulated me. But when I made one mistake, everyone started laughing. This means that even if a person is successful, society will notice his slightest mistake. And they’ll like that. So don’t let criticism destroy your dreams.
The only person who never makes a mistake is someone who does nothing.”Albert Einstein once wrote on a chalkboard:

This was an exciting day! Former owner of SLES, Cheryl Anthony, editor, author Yasmin-John Thorpe, and co-business owner, Nikole Haumont brought their new decodable books to a large community event.
The books were well liked. Parents of young children, grandparents, teachers, and others perused the books for young readers and those with dyslexia.
Especially touching, Cheryl shared, were the retired individuals who stopped and shared their personal stories of having dyslexia in a time when not as much was known about dyslexia. The stories of parents who supported their children with dyslexia who are now adults. The concern of grandparents whose grandchildren have dyslexia. The thanks from an opthamologist who thanked Cheryl for her sign that explained dyslexia is not a vision problem. He shared that he had often needed to explain this misconception about dyslexia to parents who came to his office. Many thanked the team for providing these books and Cheryl's services to the community. What a wonderful and touching day!
You can find the books at Reading Is Fun!Books

soon.

Olivia came to visit her tutor, Cheryl, in Arizona, recently as part of her graduation celebration for completing the Barton Reading & Spelling System. They had a fun time!
In an online meeting with her first tutor, Stephanie, and family, a meeting was held to celebrate this outstanding passage of completion of all 10 levels! Olivia, now in the 9th grade, is doing so well in school. She enjoys volleyball and basketball. She sings in the school choir. Olivia has also been training service dogs. She has even started her own business to help families who need dog training. Yes, all of this, and most of the past several years has attended tutoring two times per week! Olivia is one amazing girl! She and her family are grateful for the support of her tutors, Stephanie Thornton, and Cheryl Anthony at Successful Learning Educational Services!
